Ellis destroyed Hall on that hit in the 3rd.

I will never understand why the refs are so quick with the whistles on those plays. It wasn't like Smith took 4 or 5 whacks at it. It was a bang-bang play and the puck was in the net. Zero reason to call that play dead.

That was a horrible call for sure.

The Ellis hit on Hall was flawless. Loved seeing Hall get jacked up trying to make a move on Ellis. He is really coming into his own as a D Man.

The game last night was a perfect example of how a team with a great defense (including goaltending) just needs a little bit of talent on the offensive end to win consistently. The Oilers first line is really strong. And they generated plenty of good chances. But the Preds defense held strong and made great plays several times to shut down offensive pressure.

Edmonton's offense is just as talented than the Preds, but their defense & goaltending is much weaker. That was the difference in the game.

I enjoyed seeing the 2nd & 3rd lines produce. Cullen may have been the best player on the ice for either team - and Smith was able to finish. Also, Wilson's pass to Beck on the scoring play was great & shows the skill set he has. I think that line might be a winner (Jokinen seems to be a good vet presence on that line doing a lot of the little things needed to create opportunities).

Good game from start to finish. Fun to watch as well. Lot of good young talent on Edmonton.

The Preds played a good game, completely outshot the Oil in the first, thank god for Scrivens that they made it out of that period at zeros...the hit on Hall is the way he plays, balls out..he took the hit and got back up, no worse for wear but one of these times he's gonna get caught with his head down and he won't be so quick to get back up...he needs to stop trying to deke out the D, this isn't junior anymore and it rarely works..good win by you guys, normally we own Rinne..not last night, Cheers!

I have to agree with Paul on the intent to blow call. If the ref's stand was he intended to blow the play dead why go to Toronto? Is there someone there who can look at the replay to see when the ref felt the play was dead? I just don't get that call. You teach players of all sports to play until you hear the whistle blow. That is when the play is dead, not when the ref thinks the play might be dead. It took forever for some clairvoyant NHL official to glean when the ref first thought he should blow the whistle but didn't. If you are going to have that rule in the book it should be an open and shut case. I intended to blow the whistle....case closed.

Normally Trotz is the coach. Not last night.

This is a completely different team right now. They're so much fun to watch. Last season, going to the games felt like a chore. This season I can't wait to get to the arena. I love the team's new, uptempo style.

The change has been the new coaching staff has allowed the forwards to play in the offensive zone and our great D men to play D. In the old regime everyone played D.
We have great defensemen. You need to trust them to do their job, and allow the forwards to do theirs which is score goals.

His wrister is deadly...especially on his own goalie.
