How long do you envision us having to put up with the charade that this team is only hampered by injuries? That's all I hear about, but the talent just isn't there, and what talent we have isn't showing up. Do you think were close to seeing this blown up? |

Watching this game I noticed the Hurricanes doing something that reminded me of what the Oilers liked to do a lot last year and that is puck watching and the dmen just gliding around instead of skating and it burns you in the end. The Draisaitl goal is a prime example of it, if Faulk was on his horse and skated towards Leon right from the start instead of watching if Khudobin was going to make a save, that rebound probably wouldn't have went in. If you look at the gif I'll post you'll see at least 3 Hurricanes gliding around watching. Small sample size but I hope you get my point.

Yeah but if Gleason never has his stick ripped out of his hands Draisaitl isn't that wide open. I'm not saying the Canes would've won this game but to have two missed penalties lead directly to goals is absurd, I can understand the second one away from the puck. But one of the most blatant slashes I've ever seen on a puck carrier missed leading directly to a goal is ridiculous. |

Don't complain about reffing. Honestly. Your not the first team to have missed calls. I agree they were penalties, but if it's not called, you play through it. |

It happens, we lost a game to the Canucks because Burrows was allowed to throw the puck to his teammate who then scored but all that is moot and doesn't change my original point.
Also I am not really that torn up over the missed Perron call, if Gleason's stick isn't in Perron's midsection, he probably would've been able to hold onto it. |

Exactly.
Gleason feels he has to try to interfere with everyone on the ice because he's just way way too slow to keep up. If he could actually skate and keep his stick in a place where there's a chance for it to actually do good, that never would have happened. |

If teams could win with 3rd and 4th liners playing in the top 6, why would anyone get paid more than 2 million a year? |

Because if you paid $2 million or less per year to everyone you'd never reach the salary cap floor. |

I'm confused as to what that has to do with my point, but if 3rd and 4th liners were able to win against "regular" teams wouldn't that make them just as good as the rest--thus driving up their value and inflating their contracts as well? |

The only assets we have that are actually marketable and we might be willing to trade are Tlusty and Sekera. There isn't really anyone else on the team that's available that anybody wants. |

Both Staals are something people will want. Semin is if you retain salary, which isn't a bad thing considering if you rebuild you're likely struggling to get to the floor anyway. |

Eric won't waive unless we have a new owner. He has made this clear in interviews publicly. He said he discussed his future with Francis, Karmanos and Waddell before the season began and expressed his desire to stay.
Plus his $8.25 million cap hit is next to impossible to fit into most teams right now anyway.
Jordan COULD concievably be traded, but I'd think that a bit premature, and few teams are going to trade for a guy who can't help them out for a while anyway.
Semin could be dealt as well, but I don't think he's as attractive a piece right now as he was even three years ago, and as you pointed out his cap hit is a bit problematic. |

Rutherford left this team a complete mess. Both Staal's and Semin have completely unmovable contracts, regardless of how they perform. They are all vastly overpaid. I know he didn't draw up Jordan's contract but he was the only GM dumb enough to touch it.
I don't even know if Skinner's long term contract is movable(at a good value) with how much he's been injured.
Tlusty seems to be the only movable (non prospect)asset of value this team has. Sekera too.
I'm not even sure MacDavid gets this franchise back on track... |
