Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Back-to-Backs Are Bad News The Vancouver Canucks wrapped up their three-game road trip with a whimper on Friday night, getting shelled by the Colorado Avalanche by a score of 7-3.

I'll write this one off somewhat, end of road-trip, playing in Denver on a back-to-back. I wasn't expecting a win honestly.

Lack is awful. Trade him to Winnipeg for a 2nd round pick.

Good luck.

He's not awful, I'd rather look at the larger sample size of games last year than 2 this year. He's still one of the better backups in the league easily. I'd rather keep him than trade him for a 3rd.

Nice to see this group still has the ability to help struggling teams turn their game around

That's not a knee jerk reaction at all. Teams will pay more for him coming off a 7 goal game.

Oh (frank) it's not Tuesday

Good point. Established goalies aren't exactly bringing the biggest returns lately, I doubt Lack will. Right now he has more value to us then whatever he might bring in return.

By no means did he stand on his head last night, but I'm more concerned about our D's ability to get the puck out of our zone.

Sbisa-Weber is a disaster waiting to happen as a 3rd pairing. That 3rd pairing falls apart without Stanton. I'd rather give Corrado a shot over one of those 2 at this point.

I think that disaster has already/is continuing to happen
Stanton being gone is a huge loss. And as far as Corrado, he couldn't possibly be worse so may as well give him a couple of games

For sure. Seems like everyone is including Tanev in their trade proposals and I don't get it. Even with Tanev we're two injuries away from disaster.

Dear Mr. Benning, please find a way to get this team some defensive defense men and a centre man who can win face offs. Thanks.

Ps. I really like the job you've done with the secondary and top level scoring so far.

Willie Mitchell would have been a nice fit, though not at what he's getting paid.

Plus, we would then have two Willies on the team. How could you not take us seriously?

I think a clean shaven Willie is preferable to a Willie with a moustache

Sbisa with his pizza's can be a bit much. The only silver lining to his play is he does usually hit a bit.

3/4 (pulled out of the air) of all our forwards turn away from body contact.

How can Matthias play over 12 mins in the bottom 6 and not have a hit?

Maybe some of these numbers are skewed a bit, not home rink and all, but if we aren't scoring and the other team is dominating with speed and puck possession, hitting usually helps break up and slow down the other team.

In the top 6, Burrows is the only player credited with a hit.

Kassian had 1 hit.

I know hits aren't everything but we have too many guys that are inbetweeners that aren't scoring and aren't hitting. Don't know where that leaves them.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The all natural "mountain man" Willie is the way to go.

While a hairy Willie may look more rugged, the clean shaven Willie is usually the taller looking of the two

If you can't keep up with them you have to slow them down somehow. Right now they're like a bouncer with a lineup of hot girls. Just waving them through.

While the appearance if height is good, it means nothing without the width. Height + width. The full package, so to speak.

I would say there isn't anyone dressed in the lineup resembling a bouncer, with the exception being Dorsett.

We have a bunch of pretty boys who are mixed in with the hot chicks, just skating through with their heads down, trying not to be noticed.

This is true, but whether Willie is hairy or not does not affect his girth

The Defence is terrible as we all know. It’s not that easy to fix back end woes, just ask the Oilers. You need to draft good D and develop them; the Canucks have only done this a couple of times in the last decade++

I remember when Gillis came in and Elliot Freedman from CBC noted that 'the future looked bright' for the Canucks.

The Team was already strong, but he was mostly referring to the prospect pool. Hansen looked promising, they had just drafted Hodgson, Schneider was coming around, etc.

It always amazes me how badly the team has been messed up since, in such a short time. The worst part is that almost all of Gillis' best moves had nothing to do with his gutting of the future. Ehrhoff, Samuellson, Santorelli, etc. all came at no cost to the team and were great moves.

But man, would we 'love' to have Schneider right now, along with Hodgson locking down the second line. And that First rounder we gave up for Ballard...sigh.

If we had Schneider still and Hodgson as a third line Centre here. This team would look a LOT better.

He's really not much better than Bonino, and is more expensive.
