Tim Chiasson: Thoughts on Sharks Rumors
Discussing Eklund's Sharks rumors from the last few days. - Tim Chiasson
I would not move Kadri in the deal
maybe Holland if the Sharks require a center in return. |

You are way to high on Thortons value no way leafs give Kadri and gardiner for a old declining center that the orginization has called out. Maybe you add muller or hertl and we could start to talk. But to me the rumor was joe for dion |

This is the Leafs we are talking about.
What about Couture for Kadri/Gards or Kadri/ Franson or BLANK/Gardiner? |

San Jose has a great cap situation right now and Phaneuf wouldn't really help that out. I like Phaneuf, but his salary in San Jose doesn't work. Here's a little clarification on my Thornton value. From the post...
I can’t see Toronto giving up that much talented youth for an aging star, even if the aging star is still a high production player. |

As I posted on the original Eklund Blog, I would like to get your thoughts on this.
I was thinking a depth move of Freddie Hamilton, or Adam Burish to the Leafs makes more sense from a cost/benefit perspective to the Sharks than moving someone with a lock on the roster in San Jose. Hamilton is an RFA at the end of the season and if a defense man is moved out of Toronto they would have a very easy time qualifying him. He is also from Toronto. It could be a benefit for the team and the player with a change of scenery.

I don't think Shanny is dumb like other top management in the past .
As for Couture I'd love him but why would Sj want to move him.
I think by December Shanny will have his mind made up that the leafs core is very flawed they are all misfit players from other teams and we need to move some core players aka kessel and dion. Kessel would look good on some top teams that need scoring help and kessel doesn't have to be the guy. He is a complement player he can't be your best player. Get good assests in return and we get a possible top 5 pick.
Sorry rambling on |

Knowing Doug Wilson he probably gave John Scott a NTC in his contract. |

Maybe you should wait on William Nylander. You got something special there. |

Sending out Hamilton and Burish would definitely make sense for San Jose, but who would come back in return? Would that enough to get Franson? I think Hamilton has been replaced by Tierney in the Sharks pecking order so moving Hamilton wouldn't be a problem right now. Counter question would be that isn't Frederick Gauthier basically Freddie Hamilton, maybe more talented?

Yeah, thats a good question and comparison.
Gauthier has been hitting a run of bad luck when it comes to making the big club. He is a big man with lots of skill and can be a solid two-way forward. He is one that shouldn't be forgotten about either. His play in the world juniors this year will have people turning their heads. He will be in a leadership role and will be able to produce like he should be.
So I guess the logic will be with a move like this, which is similar to the logic at this years Maple Leaf Training Camp is that you can't have too many of the same player, the better one will reveal themselves and be noticeable on the ice.
Alas, Its also more than likely that nothing will come from the sentence long rumor that Eklund put out yesterday.
Thanks Tim |

kadri would get curb stomped in the pacific division as the 2c on the sharks. the kings, ducks, etc would love to see him in the sharks lineup instead of thornton. leafs fans are delusional at his value. |

The Sharks are broken...playoff broken. Some can say that the way they were bounced out last season would motivate them to come together and keep that killer instinct. That has not happened nor will that happen. There is a character flaw with the team that needs to be address and we have even seen that this season going up by a good number of goals and not being able to keep the other team out. This culture is not a winning culture and you need to bring in someone with that winning character that once the other team is down will make people play like its a 0 0 game.
