Blessing in disguise IMO. After 6 AHL and 9 NHL games it should be pretty clear if he's ready for the NHL or not.

I didn't realize he was eligible for even a conditioning stint.

I believe he had to miss a certain number of games and the Canucks had to get approval from the NHL.

I guess it was Burrows penalty for punching Boyle in front of the net that led to the gwg. That 2nd line was playing well.

Tampa with a hot goalie and Stamkos generating offense is a hard team to beat if they are getting both.

If the Canucks do as Mungo suggested with Horvat, it may work out- Utica - 9 games with the Canucks and then WJC and make the decision on whether to keep him or send him back to junior. Might be an easier time to make a trade if room is needed on the roster.

But would think if the Canucks are trending not to make the playoffs, is there any rush to keep Horvat up and burn a year of contract in a losing cause?

Wow, feeling a lot more optimistic this year- seeing growth and a direction with the team. Yeah, it's early but was expecting the worst last year and hoping for the best.

edit: do they show Utica games online? fofree?

I wish somebody with skill could play the 3C spot. Richardson doesn't have the hands for that role. It would be nice if Horvat could take over but he doesn't seem to have the wheels for it yet.

Is it NHL or Juniors for Drouin too after the 9 games?

Bo knows how to play the 3C spot. He'll fit that role if he proves himself.

I thought he looked much quicker this year than the times I've seen him in the past

That was a disastrous head to head matchup of first lines.

Henrik not only coughed up the first goal but also lost the battle to Stamkos on the second after a dreadful give away from the top pairing of defense. I know a lot of people like Hamhuis, but he's always in my doghouse...if I had to trade a Dman, it would be him.

Lost in the FO circle again.

Like that the team played well overall.

After reading Tony G's story in the Province today... you'd think the Canucks didnt show up at all but I thought they had a reasonable showing. Rough start and too many penalties but they put up a good game against an elite team. Thats all I ask from this sub par team and I think thats what I saw.

Bieksa's penalty was a bad call. His stick was laying flat on the ice and the player stepped on it,,,, skate slid down the shaft and it looked like a trip. Not likely the ref would catch it without a replay and thats was the GW goal with Burrows already in the box for a dumb one.

I thought the team played well considering Tampa is suppose to be one of the best of the East? Their goaltender played better, we coughed up the puck (Hank) once and they scored on a 5 on 3.

Team has issues for sure, show me a 11th to 30th team that doesn't.

Agree with your assessment. Tony G will take any opportunity available to suggest the roof is collapsing.

It wasn't a bad game at all, stupid mistakes and those two unfortunate penalties (frank)ed them over. Lack was mediocre as well. But during 5v5 they were arguably better than Tampa, but Hedman was out as well so I take it with a grain of salt.

I was also happy to see Henrik admit to failure after the game...that guy has class and is always trying to improve.

Lack had some excellent saves though. But I don't think this team is going to be a technical masterpiece. The games we win will likely be by the skin of our teeth with exciting, offensive hockey and lots of errors

I'd say NHL. He's got the skill set to play and juniors would be a waste for him.

Lack was solid.
It doesn't help him when the first shot he faces in 2+ weeks is a Stamkos breakaway from ctr ice.
None of the goals were Eddie's fault, and he had a few great sequences.

Didn't realize he was still that young, thought he almost made the club a couple seasons ago.
