Some do, some don't. You have to give to get in trades. His perceived value is as high as it has ever been. He scored some playoff goals and now he is on a line with Malkin. Marcel Goc being on the roster opens the door for the discussion.

Nice to be known as a threat for once. Should be an interesting game tonight. McDonald expected to be in the line up and kulemin to push up to the second line. It's a shame Bcs that line was flying with grabo on it. May upset the balance and I'm no fan of McDonald. Guy better come out flying or Lee will be called up in a flash. Is MAF expected to play tonight?

Interesting to note that the coaching staff seems to prefer Spaling to Goc as the third line center in Sutter's absence.

Interesting if you believe it will be a long term thing

That third line will most likely be their fourth line down the road.

you keep saying this but im not sure it happens, like you and many have said, paul martin helps this team by staying through the playoffs.

to me the smart thing to do is move him asap, so that the team receiving him gets him for more than a couple months and whom ever we get in return can go ahead and start their chemistry with their line mates.

how ever it is clear that the coaching staff still isnt doing the smart thing, any one who watches can tell scuderi should be benched. yet he plays

Thanks for the acknowledgement in your blog.....

Its going to be a great game regardless of outcome of game. Since the Pens are an elite team, this will help show how far the isles have come and a good test after the SJ game.

I think it's because Goc has been great in the 3rd line role and when malkin eventually resumes his 2nd C position, sutter does become expendable. Also Sundqvist looked great during training camp and could possibly take the 3rd or 4th C spot next year or even later this year after his season in Sweden is done.

Sutter for yaks makes sense cap wise, but if they were targeting Perron, something a tad extra would have to be thrown in. Yaks is 21 and there's a good possibility he isn't close to his ceiling, while Perron is 26 and at his prime. Although Perron is the better player right now, there's that chance yaks could become the great goal scorer we thought he would be by now, but I know some of that is due to the oilers roster/coaching

I know it's probably not because of the change in management, (perhaps, the new system could have benefitted, but not likely this early in the saxon) but it's great to see the Pens health take a turn for the best.

Just think, the past few years, the Pens couldn't catch a break with the injuries. Now we see Maatta return much earlier from surgery than expected and playing just as well, if not better.

Also Bennett's "6 week" recovery seems to be ahead of schedule if he's skating just 3 weeks in.

Dupuis' case is probably all luck, that puck was an inch closer to the spinal cord I'm almost certain he would've been paralyzed, but nonetheless the luck there is something we didn't seem to have in the past.

Hopefully it continues throughout the season so we can hit the playoffs full speed ahead.

I'd much prefer to have Yak come in to Pittsburgh. He's just 21 like you said, which means if he hits his prime at 25, Sid and Geno will be around 30, just starting to fall out of their primes. It would make more sense for the future of the organization, I think.

That's very true, good point. Sutter being able to handle the 2nd C spot really ups his value too. Pens could also throw in a mid-tier d prospect as well, but I can't see them doing much more than that

I get that the oilers need a center but isnt their defense atrocious? Why dont they want a defenseman, that's what we have most of.

I wasn't implying that would be the only player involved, more like the key pieces. If I were making a trade offer right now, it'd be sutter, dumoulin, 2nd for yaks.

Leafs have had pieces in place to do OK, still don't. Carlyle was burying Grabovski on the 4th line and healthy scratching MacArthur in the playoffs. Two solid players being horrendously misused. But hey, you got Clarkson and Bozak to lead the charge now instead of those two.

Oilers haven't had the Grabovski's and MacArthurs laying around to misuse. They have had promising young top end forwards and nothing else.

I kind of like that the Crosby unit is scoring their goals while being close to the net. It just means that the offense is being funneled to the net. Where it should be.

I would love if the Penguins could acquire Perron. I am on the fence with Yakupov. I cannot deny his talent. His goal against the Canucks last saturday could have been straight from a Pavel Bure highlight reel, but the mishandling from the Oilers leaves me wondering if it is him or Eakins.
