Paul - I love this line:
To me, the guy has forfeited his right to be part of our game. He's no enforcer. He's no tough guy. He's a disgrace.

I still cannot understand how Todd Bertuzzi ever was allowed back on the ice (let alone in an NHL Stadium). Hockey is a privilege, not a right.

Excellent article Paul. Don't forget about Trevor Gillies sucker punching Jarkko Ruutu in the Finnish league last season, leading to his immediate expulsion from that league.

Gillies needs professional mental help, not to be playing minor league hockey and putting the health of younger prospects at risk. As a Penguins fan I was somewhat disappointed that Tangredi didn't develop as expected. It is possible that he just never had the speed to be a very good NHL player but I often wonder how much this concussion hurt his development. It is disgusting that two of Gillies' most infamous incidents were against rookies. This was Carrier's first AHL game. Fortunately he doesn't seem hurt from it.

Too bad you can't see my playing a violin for that garbage. Where were you when Bertuzzi was allowed to play? What he did was FAR WORSE! The player Gillies did it to didnt have a problem with it so everyone else, SHUT THE HE11 UP and stop whining!

Great article Paul. Trevor Gillies is a punk. His IQ is likely about the same as his uniform number.

1) I wasn't writing then. I was retired from refereeing and a civilian like you. Hindsight? Personally, I would have suspended Bertuzzi for a year. It was a different incident than this one; premeditated.

2) Carrier was a kid playing in his first pro game. He is trying not to rock the boat. He's a non-fighter but that doesn't mean he wants the rep of being a guy that can't handle the rough stuff when it comes his way.

3) Players whining: What does that have to do with supplemental discipline?

Did you stop on the way home at Kelsey's? Your comments makes no sense.

Gilles needs a mental evaluation. Smacking his head on the ice. Unreal.

Thanks Stewie, for coming back in, and more importantly, for continuing with the reasonable and logical thoughts.
