Dan Petriw: Time To Get Serious Long Island - Dan Petriw
It might be a good crowd bc of a quality team in the Sharks, but a sell-out, I'm just not quite sure for the 2nd home game.....
But I'll be there again........... |

I agree but you're only fooling yourself if you think all of a sudden its going to be like saturday night every night. A couple of wins aren't gong to make people forget the last 20 years or so. They keep this play up and around the holidays you'll start to get those crowds |

I don't know. I haven't felt a buzz like this around this team in, well really ever...in my lifetime. They haven't been truly good since I was a toddler and I wasn't alive for the dynasty years. I think people will show. Maybe we won't be packing every seat every night, but I think the days of 14,000*** people showing up are over.
***Actual attendance number may vary (read: cut in half) based on the Islanders blatantly exaggerating attendance. |

Stubhub still has $8 tickets for some games so demand isn't quite there yet. 3-0 is a great start. You diehards are awesome fans. just need to get those bandwaggoners back and restore the Masoleum to its glory of 30 years ago. |

I don't think it will be empty but its not going to like saturday night either. Like I said 12-13,000 tops which is fine because it will still be loud. Like I said earlier they keep this up and come the holidays you'll see the place jammed for the remainder of the season |

"Anything less than 13,000 people at tonight’s game is embarrassing considering the success of the team this season"
They've played three games this year two of which were against a team that might be picking first overall at the draft and another that is missing their "first line center" and a top 4 d man due to injuries. I like that they're 3-0 but lets not get ahead of ourselves. This fan base is hesitant to jump on and rightfully so. I'd love to see the old barn jammed for them tonight but I have a hard time blaming this fan base for anything or calling them out. I may go tonight, hopefully Vukota sits this one out |

I don't care who they beat. Team showed they are serious. Time for the fans to pony up. If they don't then I don't want to here one peep about Brooklyn. If 10k is all we can expect then the locals lost the right to piss on the move.... Hesitant!! COME ON, either you like hockey or you don't. Tickets are 8 (frank)ing dollars |

If this team is still posting a good record 15, 20, 25 games in...I bet you'll start to see a big spike in attendance. I think everyone is cautiously optimistic, but they may not all be diving head first into spending on tickets just yet. Maybe if we get through the Annual Islanders November Points Giveaway Bazaar© |

Dan, I love the passion of the blog (hell, I was at that Phoenix game last year) but Vukota is 100% right. I'd be expecting 10,000-12,000 realistically if I were you.
It sucks, but people want to see a winning franchise. Why do you think CitiField is always empty? Why has Yankee stadium been half empty lately? Why were the Rangers selling out the Garden last year? The fans have been fooled before and it's gonna take a little CONSISTENCY before any of that changes.
At this point in my life I'm lucky if I get to a handful of games a year. I used to go to at least 8 or 10 a season. Now, I don't get home from work until the beginning of the 3rd period and I have 2 kids to entertain during the weekend, not to mention the wife, who (thank God) is an Isles fan. I don't believe this makes me any less of a fan and I don't think it's "embarrassing" if we have less than 13,000 there tonight. I love the passion of the blog, so please, keep it up. |
