Friend of mine told me the news nd I beamed with a smile. Although I understood the suggestion of MSL, as he has more than shown himself to be a leader. The core of this team still remains from the Torts Black n Blue shirts Era, so I found it hard to consider anyone other than McD.
I think we all believe at this point McDonagh is a bonafide Norris finalist, but after his offensive explosion in the playoffs, homerism aside is there any reason to believe that he has the chance to actually win the award this year? |

Everyones favorite scotty hockey at it again.. Suggesting that Mac truck "isnt the captian type" and he was only chosen because he was the best player on the ice other than Hank.

This is why I don't follow that clown on twitter, he's the epitome of all the dumb Rangers fan who think that we should trade Girardi and Hagelin, the newest one is that Kreider doesn't finish checks, they are malcontents who know zero about the game, the one's who had no idea why we traded with Florida yesterday |

Great to see Mac with the C, kid is still getting better every year. The 4 A's & not giving 1 to Nash tells a lot about his lack of leadership. Not saying he's a bad guy in te room, just not the leader type & not everyone is. If he scores 40 + this yr I could care less that he's not a team leader. He's def NOT a malcontent & to me leaves pretty much it all on the ice most nights.
Anyway, congrats to Mac & let's get this season started! |

Meh I'm looking deep into who wasn't given one, Hags wore an A for most of camp and was Captain at Michigan, there's a wealth of leadership on this team |

Which again is why this is the perfect situation to bring a 19 year old phenom into. It's not like Edmonton just constantly throwing 18 year olds on the team for years with no leadership to speak of. There is a leader and a mentor literally everywhere you look in that Ranger dressing room. |

I actually don't see it that way. Look at the players with A's on their shirt. Not only is there a depth at the forward position but there is depth in the leadership department haha. It was just a numbers game for Nash. To many candidates to choose from IMO. |

Yep, I am sure Dom Moore could have been in the running for an "A" to. |

Surprised a little that Stepan got the A over Moore or Nash. Stepan's always been kind of the quiet one. Isn't exactly an intense personality. He quietly gets things done and works hard, but control the room and motivate? Not sure thats part of his personality...though I'm not in the locker room I think he got it simply because he's expected to be the #1 Center.
Nash I'm surprised. I know the argument is that he's struggling to put the points up and maybe added pressure doesn't help. But the other side is, maybe giving him a letter WOULD actually help, make him feel like he needs to step up and be an example. Since he's been in NY, he's been more of the "the pressure of leadership has been removed" situation and he could just play a little more carefree. That could contribute to slide in production. Maybe Nash needs a little more accountability and the push to set an example. That could make him confident to take the extra step into the middle, to play more like the Nash we saw when he first returned to Columbus. Man he was a monster in that game...wish he was like that every game. He played possessed... |

I don't know, if Nash needs a letter in order to feel he needs to do more to step up....we are in big big trouble |

You dont need a letter to be a leader. Nash himself often took kids like kristo and duclair to the side to help them with positioning and whatnot. |

I think things like diving into the net face first with a broken jaw to stop a goal show lots of leadership

I know this is beating a dead horse, but I don't know how Montreal lives with themselves for trading McDonagh for Gomez. |

I don't feel too bad for them, they won the Stanley Cup in 1971 and got to draft Guy Lafleur first overall in the draft a month later, they deserve 10 McDonagh deals to happen to them for that absurdity. |
