Agreed, while I could understand that question in past years when they truly brought in other team's castoffs that is certainly not the case this year.

Both Goalies, forwards, and D-men were highly sought after by other teams.

That and we have TONS of home grown on the team and on the cusp of being on the team. It is just a dumb comment by an "Islander fan" that clearly is not paying a dang bit of attention to "his" favorite team.

Who wouldve thought that bringing along prospects slowly and properly could be perceived as being a bad way of doing things?

You can certainly make a case that the team failed to develop a goaltender prospect but that is hit or miss for a lot of teams. Our homegrown defense: Campoli, Gervais, MacDonald were some success, but Hamonic has been a find.

Point is no longer a low cap team and Snow has shown he can build with the higher payroll. Vanek trade still a bad mark but team did not need another high priced franchise center when they already have one.

Vanek and Moulson trade will not be decided for another year or two. When they happened I said you wouldn't know till you see what happens with Coldberg and the draft picks. One thing for certain is the picks he gave up are not as Great as percieved when he gave them up b/c this team is much better on paper then they were at that time.

Goaltenders are difficult to draft and develop in general. The bottom line is he got Halak for a 4th rounder and Chad Johnson free... and Nillsson was good enough that he and Polka got us Leddy who a lot of other teams wanted.

Last time I checked the Kings did not draft Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, Justin Williams, Jarret Stoll or Marian Gaborik. Yet somehow they prevailed.

You can argue the Vanek trade ad naseum but yes with the salary cap and free agency for older players as well as fixed price of elc's and rfa for younger players the gm's have a lot to work with besides scouting and drafting. And even scouting is covered by central scouting.
