2 things I took away from the game last night, 1) Hornqvist is a puck seeking missel/beast ! He leaves it all on the ice , love the effort I see from him. 2) the Spaling Goc Comeau line is absolutely positively RELENTLESS! They are doing exactly what they are supposed to do create havoc , and doing most of it in the opponents zone. All great pickups(except Goc) by JR. the only concern I have is the fact that everything is SOOO quiet on the Malkin front ? Keep saying 4-5 days then after that another 4-5 days ? |

Well I owe someone a beer, Car bomb has been released; this is a shame.
I wonder had his foot been 100% would things have been different. |

Just read on Tiops the Pens released Carcillo! |

Really like Ehrhoff. He truly was a great sign.
It will be very very hard to keep Sundqvuist off this roster. He deserves a shot. He doesn't have daddy as a majority owner of his team in Sweden. Unless he makes the roster, I don't see the Pens figuring out a way to get him out from underneath that contract to put him in the AHL. Totally different from Kapannen.
Really like Harrington too. |

No reason for the thumbs up, he could have been a good asset to this team if he was fully healthy. |

I despise that guy. Just because he was in a Pens jersey didn't change that. The last thing this team needs is a guy that can't control himself. He's nothing more than a dumb penalty waiting to happen.
You have your problems with Sutter at least allow me to have my issues with a complete douche like Carcillo. He's not good......at all. This made my day. |

rpaterson33- You guys are morons. Said the same about asham and then blew and loved him. Pittsburgh = biggest brainless fair weather fan base in NHL. If it were up to you idiots we would still have Christensen and Colby Armstrong because they "we're liked". 12min
I read this on the Pens site today, I thought it hit the nail on the head with people that are Steelers fans watching hockey for something to do. Keep in mind I am 100% not referring to anyone here.

I'm not a an NHL talent evaluator by any stretch and he was likely hampered by the injury.... but Carcillo simply didn't play well enough to earn a contract. I don't have any issue with bringing him in or letting him go.
I think Sundqvist could center the 4th line right now which means Sutter is quite expendable. I would start seriously considering what we could get for Sutter + D prospect. I think Sutter has good trade value around the league.
Pouliot remains under the radar but I did see he was skating in WBS. I still think he makes it to the NHL this year and may very well be the insurance policy that allows us to deal Martin.

Just a hunch...I think Adams might end up in the organization after his career is over...take that as you will.
Saying Sidney Crosby is great is nice and all...but really. Last night he looked GREAT? He looked like a great player playing in his 1st game. He was 75% of GREAT Sid. You sound too much like a fanboy saying he was great.
Thought Spaling played a nice game last night...did some good things to create scoring chances and assisted on a couple. I think from here on out I will be the Nick Spaling Positive Remarks Counter in Ryan's blogs. I have 8 fingers and 2 thumbs, that should be good enough for 1, maybe 2 seasons. |

Glad carcillo is gone. He's not needed... I like sundqviust centering 2nd line over sutter if geno is out long... give him players that are top 6 and he will do fine...I still think kap gets a 9 game look... still pushing for megna over adams... hope it comes sooner than later.. |

Sundvist, Kapanen, Megna, Maatta, Dumoulin/Harrington/Despres would certainly give us the infusion of youth many of us (myself included) had been hoping for.
Actually if Sundqivst can stay long term, I'd put him as the 4th line C and put Goc up on the third line wing.
this would actually be a pretty good bottom six:

His legacy will go untarnished. Next, we must make sure Jagr never dons the black and gold. |

All of that might be a bit much, but I could see the following for the start of the season:
FORWARDS
Chris Kunitz ($3.850m) / Sidney Crosby ($8.700m) / Kasperi Kapanen ($0.925m)
Pascal Dupuis ($3.750m) / Evgeni Malkin ($9.500m) / Patric Hornqvist ($4.250m)
Nick Spaling ($2.200m) / Brandon Sutter ($3.300m) / Steve Downie ($1.000m)
Blake Comeau ($0.700m) / Marcel Goc ($1.200m) / Oskar Sundqvist ($0.701m)
DEFENSEMEN
Kris Letang ($7.250m) / Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m)

Also, just noticed that Maatta (should he not be ready on opening night) could be assigned to WBS & recalled whenever he is ready to play. Doesn't have to pass through waivers & would allow the team to bank a little Cap Space via his $894K Cap Hit going off the books. |
