If they do want to keep Sekac with the team, I think Bournival will be sent down. No reason to keep him in the pressbox when he can have some playing time in Hamilton.

Moen, Thomas, Bournival, Tokarski, Tinordi....

Would Bournival have to clear waiver?

Bournival is staying put. Between Prust, Weise and Malholtra, the clinic will be busy. Good news for Bournival is that any injury or slump gets him in. He competitive, and he's not going to get stunted sitting out some games... there's a lot he can learn from continuing to practice and be a part of the Canadiens.

I believe... don't quote me... that the answer is no. He would not have to clear.

If there is, he seemingly hates the Senators.

i would imagine that if Lars Eller is sitting with 3 or 4 points on November 1, Galchenyuk gets a shot at that spot. i don't think they'll let 1/3 of the top 9 flounder for 30-40 games like they did last year because Lars Eller can't find his game.

to your point on Tinordi and what he brings, is that not why Marc Bergevin gave $16 million to Alexei Emelin? you talk about Gilbert but i think he'll be fine. i'm pretty sure we all knew this guy was soft and his main attribute was moving the puck. but even if he is soft, he still has good size so at least he can take some hits on the the forecheck and keep going, not wear down so easily. but to me, the weak link on D could be Emelin if he doesn't move a bit quicker and be less stupid than he was last year.

"...maybe it's a sign that the NHL is just starting to deal with hits to the head--no matter how they happen--with a bit more severity. It may not be a popular opinion, but I'm okay with that, if it ends up being the case."

- EricEngels

I think many would be ok with that too...if only it was consistent. But the one thing we know from the NHL is that it is NOT consistent in handing out supplementary discipline.

Emelin has the physicality, but he doesn't have the nasty that Tinordi could have. And all Tinordi needs at this stage is experience and confidence that comes with trust.

Emelin has a lot to prove this year. He's got to find stability and start making sounder decisions with the puck. They need to be harder on him. And there's no way he should be paired with Subban for the season...

he seems like a no-maintenance guy. i'm sure he ends up playing 50 games, even if he's not in the top 12 on opening night.

While I'd understand the point of having a guy you don't want to develop as your 7th dman so the young guys can keep playing, I don't think that's the way they should go.

Let one of Pateryn or Tinordi with the big club and the possibility to step up if there's an injury or if someone is in a slump.... they'll be better than Drewiske ever was/will be and they'll also learn alot by practicing with the team on a daily basis.

Imo, Pateryn will be the 7th guy but things can change very fast and multiple times during the season.

i see the shoulder make contact. but i mean, Tinordi is actually crouching and lowering his centre of gravity there. what's he supposed to do in order not to make contact with the head?

Great effort by Joel Ward to steal the game

Shots were something like 30-17 in favour of the Caps...

Don't hit the guy.

Which in this case would have been dumb.

i agree on Pateryn instead of Tinordi. not sure Pateryn has upside beyond being a depth guy anyway so why not? Tinordi looks like he needs to play. that guy just seems to have stopped developing in the last year or so.

Just waive Tokarski already.

Even Markstrom, who was the next coming of Pekka Rinne at some point, wasn't claimed.
