Would the Canes really consider trading Eric Staal if they're out of it after the New Year? Maybe a package of Stepan/Miller/1st? Or would they worry about his brother getting ticked? |

Yes, they would consider trading him...not giving him away. |

I too really liked the Skinner/Nash/Lindholm line. Also, the pass from Tolchinsky to Terry for the goal was begging for a "that's hockey, baby" call. And the power play looked much improved already!
REALLY disappointed with Ward, though. I fully expected him to come out like a maniac and either grab his starting position back or die trying. Didn't see that. Like you said, he was put in a terrible situation for a couple of those goals, but we're not paying him $6 million+ to stop the easy shots. |

He's not worth much more than that his numbers are starting to decline. |

One 60 point season after the second best season of his career.... sure. Decline. |

You may as well add a few younger pieces and keep rebuilding, they aren't going anywhere in the last two years of his deal. |

I know it's comical you keep missing the playoffs! - Ranger71
It IS rather embarrassing with the quality of forward talent on the team, yes. |

Peter Karmanos has put the Hurricanes up for sale.
He is asking for $420 Million.
The Whalers were purchased by Peter Karmanos in 1994 for about $48 million. |

That's all I'm saying, since it's more unlikely than not you guys squeak into the playoffs, why not move him with one year left on his deal and get a solid 60pt 24 year old C, a good young 3rd liner and a 1st? Maybe Staal then decides to re-sign there in a few years and you've made out like a bandit. |
