I don't like that breakout play either. Tell em to screw off Phil - before they get you killed.

I hate Leafs coverage. It's never focused on the poop I care about....its always poop that's happening off the ice. Can we please get some new reporters...(frank) even Yost writes about more interesting things then Kessel acting like the majority of NHL stars in this league.

Damn it, Mike.

Been listening to Feschuk talk about his article, the guy's a weasel.

Is it his fault Spott said what he said, even if it was tongue in cheek? No. It is however a pretty egotistical move to sit on this story until the day of training camp, and he has everyone speaking his name now. When he was confronted with that comment he said the NHL executives he spoke to were baffled Spott could say something so dumb. Richard move. I understand he's just doing what he's paid to do, but he is the reason NHLers become cliche drones.

He claims he reached out to Spott for days before running with the story and he was told to wait until media availability on Thursday. He couldn't do that I guess.

3 scoring line.

Does holland or kontiola go to the wing if they aren't 3c?

I'm not even sure that Feschuk can name a single guy that played for the Marlies last year, or who the Leafs picked with their 1st round pick in 2012.

Three balanced offensive lines sounds like a bit of a stretch.

Can one really believe the story if it's filled with so many inaccuracies?

Mike, I'm very impressed with the way you manage to mention Korbinian Holzer in almost every blog! But it begs the question - why? Didn't we see enough of him to know he'll never be an NHL calibre D?

One legit top 6 winger is a more accurate assessment.

edit: meant "right winger"

Does anyone believe it's uncommon for star players to say no to their asst coaches?

The most inaccurate part of Feschuk's story to me is, the part about Philip being 15lbs overweight - WHERE DOES HE HIDE IT?

Kessel, JVR, and Lupul are legit top 6 wingers. After that though??

Management doesn't want to deal with kessel... Signs 8 yr contract with him?

Couldn't publish names of minor league coaches for fear repercussions.

You are correct. I was too busy trying to top Mykokes consecutive post streak to proof what I typed. I meant right winger. They've got 3 scoring line wingers and one big hole where the fourth should be.

All 3 lines are balanced in the sense that they are equally bad

The first line should still be good at least

Seriously though I think what Carlyle meant was "I hope our third line scores a goal once in a while unlike last year". We'll see.
