Peter Tessier: So it Begins: Camp Opens & Maurice Speaks Today Jets head coach Paul Maurice began his first true campaign with the Jets and there is a lot of work ahead of him and the team. He wasn't shy about that.

Coach Mo is a great guy. Strong, but fair. If there's something the team needs to hear, he's going to say it, even if it does step on some toes along the way. He doesn't put up with bullpoop, but he's not unreasonable either. As a player, you know you can go to battle for him because he's going to go to battle for you every night as well.

Hey Pete, great article as usual! You may be the best blogger on hockeybuzz right now.

Like I always say, you and I can work our buts off to understand e=mc squared. In fact we can try really hard to. However until a talent like Einstein does not show up and explain it to us, hard work is meaningless.

This team lacks the talent to really put Maurice's plan into action!

Just my two cents!

I am excited for this year, but also think we will miss the playoffs. I am actually more excited for next year.

This guys is good - those are the right messages and the right presentation ... no player singled out, rather, leadership must come from the dressing room ... defensive play (team defence he has called it in the past) is #1

Interesting - I read that he needs 22 wins to become the youngest NHL coach to reach 500 wins ... that blew me away

Looking forward to the year - looking forward to seeing if any of the young guns can crack the line-up

Trouba is a beast and won't disappoint! There will be no sophomore slump, there will be a sophomore surge!

Trouba is an up and coming star and gets compared to a young Chris Pronger a lot. Maatta may get you more points in a pool though.
