Todd Cordell: On Eric Gelinas' Extension - Todd.Cordell
How much space are we expected to have next season? Do you think if both Larsson and Gelinas have big years it will hurt on their next contracts ? |

Gelinas has been looking like Lou Ferrigno on his instgram. Really filled out in the muscle department. Hope that translates to the ice. |

UFA forwards
Ryder
Jagr
Brunner
Havlat
Bernier
UFA defensemen
Salvador
Zidlicky
RFA defensemen
Larsson
Gelinas
I expect 5-7mil to be split between Gelinas/Larsson.
I think Zidlicky could come back for 1 year/3mil.
MAYBE Jagr comes back if he has another 60 point season? 4mil?
leaves us with.. 10-14 mil in cap space I think. Maybe Lou lets Zidlicky go and signs a more shutdown type early 30s dman.. because he just couldn't bare to keep Fayne.
Cammalleri-Zajac-Jagr
Elias-Henrique-Boucher
Clowe-Josefson-Zubrus
Carter-Gionta-Ruutu
Greene-Severson?
Merrill-Zidlicky
Gelinas-Larsson
wouldn't hurt us to move a forward, even with those 4 UFAs coming off the books.
This is why I was never concerned with having Kovy AND Parise getting big deals, and Lou "overpaying" for Parise. We'll have the money for quite some time. Then when the D need a pay raise, Elias will be off the books. It would've worked so well. |

Adam Larsson will be playing in sweden next season. He will start the season playing, because of his contract status, but by christmas he will be spending most of his time in the press box. |

Just curious but in 2011 who did you want us to take at #4 after RNH, Landekog, and Huberdeau went? A lot of people had Larsson going #1 |

its so depressing to play revisionist history and look at old drafts and who we could've had. That road will drive you crazy |

Tg said gelinas won't be UFA eligible till he is 27 so this is a good deal for him, larsson at 25
Clowe apparently got good news and appears to be cleared |

i personally wanted couturier, who fell into the flyers lap, but would have also been happy with either strome or hamilton, you would have thought lou would have learned from the failed bergfors, tedenby, josefson drafts that taking on overhyped swedish elite league player wasn't a smart move. |

Who is a star from that class that was taken in the first anyways seems to be a somewhat weaker first round class I'm sure a lot of people would have wanted coots who was also supposed to go first and then strome went right after us and he is just breaking into the nhl now Hamilton has likely had very sheltered minutes so far nuge has been decent but hurt every year landy is another great player but what's his potential is he a 50-60 point guy or 70 point guy ? None of the top guys really scream elite so far anyways |

Can we all calm down a bit with the hate on Larsson? He's younger than Gelinas and Merrill. |

Landeskog is pretty darn good. he's a 60-70 point player with speed and grit. Love his game. You want a sure bet top line, or top pair, player in the 1st 5 picks. Crosby's and Kanes aren't always there, but you want that guy that can be on your top line for 10+ years. Landeskog is that. Hopkins may be that. Jury is still out on Larsson and Huberdeau, and Couturier.. but he looks more like a 2nd line center. |

I don't think he was overhyped. I think 90% of the GM's would've taken Larsson in the scenario. I'm not writing him off, but hypothetically speaking, sometimes picks just don't work out. There were no predictors or anything, it happens all the time across all sports. |
