So just for clarification for Rule 85

(iv) the shot is tipped or deflected out of play by a teammate

If a shot is taken and tipped out by a member of the offensive team the faceoff will still take place in the offensive zone?

Stewie, why aren't you working for the nhl? I can tell you why, because you make too much dang sense. I wish they had a guy like you helping call the shots, might have more integrity in the league. Keep up the good blogs buddy. Hopefully one day you can affect some change in nhl.

I feel it is very wrong that the officials do not have a say in NHL rule changes. They are the most credible party and should have their own NHL officials meeting and discuss possible rule changes and clarifications. It's built from the bottom up not the top down. Listen to the refs that do this job day in day out and then ask the opinion of other sources such as the nhlpa and hockey operations

Without question the best blog post since you started writing here. It makes you wonder just how much the NHL hierarchy cares about the sport and its players when it cannot write a coherent rule book, and add more trash to it each year. This makes the MLB rule book read like a 1st graders reader.
