Interesting . They seemed to play so well when they were together more so than apart , but the numbers don't lie . If we're breaking up that 2nd line I would rather see palat on stamkos wing than Johnson's , I wonder what their numbers were like with that short sample size ..

Their numbers were great together, but the sample size is so small that it's tough to really get a feel for it. Most of their time together was when Johnson was up there too, if I recall correctly. That just reinforces how good that Johnson/Palat duo was.

I like where you are going with this series, really creating a balanced attack with the centers being: Stamkos, Filppula, Johnson, and Boyle.

So with lines one and two looking like:
Drouin - Stamkos - Callahan
Killorn - Filppula - Connolly
[Personally not a fan of Brett (You and Arty take it easy now ), but the potential is indisputable]

I like the idea of keeping Palat and Johnson together though. Does this mean you are thinking of Brown or Panik (for chemistry's sake) on the right side of Johnson's line? With Kucherov down in the AHL paying with Namestnikov to further refine his game?

I fail to see how Connolly deserves a top 6 role over kucherov though . If I were kucherov I'd be confused about that

could you call that a 3rd line and give them 3rd line minutes? Seems more like a young 2nd line, and would be worth splitting time making this a 2B line, with your original 2nd line being a 2A line...

and then you have a 4th line of;

Morrow - Boyle - Brown/Panik

this could be very interesting...

I think Kucherov's talent is undeniable, but i also think he was rushed to the NHL a little. Although he did tremendous at first, you could see there are parts of his game that need polishing, and a stint in the AHL might be good for him.
