Thanks for posting that Marcus Kruger hit because it exemplifies the evolution of Muzzin and the development of the weakest part of his game year-over-year: awareness. There were times in 12/13 where his decision making was really questionable. The kid only saw what was in front of him. His most remarkable contribution was firing a slapper from the point into a diving defender which would result in an odd man chance at the other end. He still gets tunnel vision, but he's now taking account of the entire rink and playing off his support. In this hit on Kruger, last year's Muzzin would have retreated. Instead, he recognizes he has support and pounds the puck carrier. His decision making improved all year long and he's now a complete defender and, yes: the ideal #2.
The kid is a real asset and I hope DL locks him up. A+, and the only one I'd give to any Kings' player this year, aside from Drew, Kopi, Gabi...
