Really? Comparing value to Subban? Have you not noticed contracts have changed the past few years? How about comparing him with some of the newer deals...they are on par.

The message to Schultz from management to me sounds more like; even if you don't necessarily play that great we are still going to pay you. This is definitely an overpayment for right now. Saying that, if he has a great season I have no problem with giving him a bigger contract... I just hope that one good season does not make a 6 year 6 mil contract.

Whoa whoa whoa. Check the linked article at the bottom for more recent signing comparisons. I brought up Subban because it's a necessary evil with Schultz. The comparison isn't to the actual number, it's to the value of the deal. There was no doubt Subban was worth more than what he got paid. I don't think Schultz is worth more than this deal. That's the comparison.

I disagree. There are many many more players out there that get paid more for the same or less production.

This is more like the Oilers saying "if you want paid more longer term then here's your opportunity to show us."

This is right in line with what most of us were saying he should take on a short term deal.

Point production wise I totally agree. It's the lapses in the defensive game that I worry about. Either way it is a one year deal so the amount is fairly meaningless. If Schultz has a similar season to last year I will be interested in what those contract discussions will become.

Agreed. But just because he got shafted doesn't mean this is a bad deal. It fair imo. I would have preferred it be 2 years but we'll see where the season takes us I guess.

If he has a similar season then he screwed himself. He wont get any more than this. Maybe less.

Also, confused on what this contrac means with his UFA status. He remains an RFA after this season correct?

Nice. Now you'll get a ban and will have to get outside and do something...

I don't know. If he were a UFA with 40 point offensive ability I don't know that he'd be getting a whole lot less than we gave him. Contract maybe is a bit of an overpayment, but not reall that much.

I have never seen a player make more money and get more rope based on his potential. The guy sucks. -39 over two seasons and one was a half season! I wouldnt have given him any more than 2.5 max
