There is a big reason why Stewart was traded---he might fight but otherwise his game is soft. He got knocked off the puck easily and rarely did he forecheck. He is way to big of guy with way too much talent and way too much speed to play like he does.

When Arnott was in St.Louis he got on both Stewart and Berglund about their off ice habits. Only one of them listened to him then. You can see in one fight, i think it was early last season where Stewart's jersey came up and a roll of fat jiggled.

You are making millions in pro sports in a game where fitness is key and you are fat?

I hope he turns it around. But so far he has been a roller coaster ride where he allows bad work ethics to wreak havoc with his game and his confidence is easily affected by his own play.

He only plays at one end of the ice regularly and his back checking has been pathetic for a guy with his speed and strength. Pathetic. So do not drink the kool aide so quickly. Even if he dominates for the first half and say by magic the Sabers make the play offs, which is possible, watch closely to see if you notice Stewart on the ice. It says he played a number of play off games for St.Louis which. I watched and it was as if he never stepped on the ice.

They should go back to the original jerseys from their NHL entry in 1967 . They rocked.

And thats why the Avs got rid of him too, they got tired of Stewart partying ways and not training to what he needed to do during the offseason.

Having that rep on 2 teams and being traded bc of it, hopefully he figures it out. Guys talented enough to be an impact player for his team

Its' interesting, as I read an article last(?) year which was a bit of behind the scenes look at the Stewart family (and how hard it was for them to pay for their sons hockey). In that interview, it was Anthony was getting all the accolades, as the most athletic, dedicated, naturally talented of the two brothers. Yet, for whatever reason, Anthony's career has stalled (not sure of what the latest is on him? is he still in hockey?) while Chris' career has vaulted him to top 6 material

In any event, I remember how much they touted Anthony over Chris and yet here we are. It's often quite the crap shoot out there.. ugggg..

Good post. Informative and well written. Keep it up!

I hope the whole team brings Stewarts attitude and I hope the whole team shocks the league. I hope....

Interesting that a fanboy/blogger of the NHL's worst team in 15 years, would call out the blues for choking (they lost to the reigning cup champs).

IMHO icing a team that got fewer points than the last 3 expansion teams inaugural seasons, after spending big bucks a couple years ago, is choking. And yes, as a leaf fan, I am used to watching a team choke.

Haven't you heard? The Sabres are scheduled win the 2022 Stanley Cup, right after the Oilers win in 2021.

No, 2018 is the reschedule date now that we have Reinhart and are positioned to suck again in 2014-15.
Take your shots now though, lol.

Funny that Garth would call out a team for failing in the playoffs and changing jerseys....how many times have the Sabres changed uniforms over the past 20 years?

They have had 4 Jersey changes over a 43 year history . Not a lot really . And they are back to their original now basically.

There is choking and there is rebuilding with a purpose . The Sabres are rebuilding with a purpose . In case you have not noticed , they are stockpiling an impressive crop of young talent . Sabre fans as a whole are fine with it. We know we are not a big free agent destination , so the only way to rebuild is through the draft . The few free agents we signed did not work out too well.

Thanks for Tim Murray by the way . I think we will see long term success again before Ottawa . So we have that going for us . Which is nice !

As many times as they've made the playoffs in the last 10, I'd say.

By the way, those new sweaters are great, IMO.

There's a fair point though that we have possibly the nicest glass house in the league at present. It's fun to look at but I'd avoid tossing stones at present.

Most Sabre fans are not throwing stones . We realize we suck . But we know the future is bright . Garth is Garth . For the trolls to be sucked in by him after all these years is actually comical.

Stewart could be a 30-40 goal scorer in this league if he just played every game. Most nights he just coasts around and doesn't do crap!
