I hate to say it, but I'll be shocked if Vis plays more than 60 games.

That's my thought as well, but if the coaching staff limits him to 3rd pairing duties then he might be useful thru out the year possibly?

I have no faith in Cappy being smart. Especially when the team had the same situation last year with Nabby and Cappy played him every game until he got hurt.

Logic doesn't sit well w/coaching staff. Plus since Hammer & CDH are our best, they should be split up w/other partners to maximize our D at least for now. If Viz takes 3rd role, then he becomes more useful for PP and might actually stay healthy.... But who knows.......

Edit: Even tho it was a small showing but I liked what I saw from Czuczman & Mayfield towards the end of last year......

Not for nothing but I wouldn't put too much stock into what BD says. Same guy who said BK wouldn't happen and also that Wang wasn't selling anytime soon and then boom less then a month later he was in spin mode after the sale broke. Does he know some people? Probably but history has shown he is not fully in the loop. nowhere close is more like it.

Hamonic needs to prove he can be spilt up. He was average at best with anyone not named CDH

I had the same question? I'm not expecting the Owners to spend like drunken sailors. Just hire the right people and be willing to spend what is needed.

Exactly, who do people assume you have to spend to the cap to have a winning team???

Plenty of examples in all sports that just spending the most does not guarantee anything. I have to think though after spending big money to buy the Isles that the new owners are not going to be penny pinching. It makes no sense to me to buy a sports team if you have to struggle along to pay the bills.

It's a good point Dan. Hamonic seemed more interested in throwing some of the goalies under the bus than focusing on his own play and the play of the d. Funny he never mentioned all the breakaways and two on one's allowed.

I don't believe any of his "sources" are anybody of note.

I don't think he fabricates anything but I also don't think that he's getting this "information" from anybody that knows anything. He is a consistent glass-half-empty guy and frankly it's depressing reading anything he writes. I unfollowed him on twitter about 85% for those reasons and about 15% because I did not give a rat's ass about viewing pictures of his cigars and craft beers.

No idea why he would not want to be a little positive about the new owners? If the new owners do not do the right things there will be plenty of time to rip them. Have to think they will be smart enough not to run the team like Charles. There will be a new spotlight on the team in Brooklyn and it will not be as easy to hide.

Yeah I stopped a couple of weeks ago. For all the same reasons and you can throw in how he talks down to islander fans like they have no idea what they are talking about, now granted there are a few out there I checked out some of his tweets after the sale broke and it was pure spin mode it was comical

Unfortunately fans equate big spending with instant winning but there are lots of teams that spend big but produce little. The serious problem with this team is no culture of winning. There is little connection with the 2001-02 team let alone 93, and the 80's. Watching them last year and you have young players who can barely handle a winning streak like they had in January. The PITT series was exciting but it was more about MAF being pressured with a team expected to beat the Isles. The coach thinks he can keep them winning with a rah-rah style while the learning curve has flatlined for alot of these guys. Real teams eat, sleep and dream hockey but these are kids like Edmonton who need to be shown the way maturity wise. Hopefully Grabo, Kulemin, Halak and Johnson rub some maturity into these guys.

He's a sharp guy, he's just too bitter and angry for me. I think his doom-and-gloom pieces are generally overblown and that's why I stopped caring what he had to say. And the arrogance is obnoxious.

I think in BD's mind, Wang sticking around is a good thing, so in his mind his piece is optimistic. Its amazing to me. BD always writes/posts things supporting the status quo, trivializing the possibilities of things changing (i.e. the team moving to Bklyn, Wang selling, infusing more money into the roster). Yet he is a fan of the team. I can't understand how you can look at how things have gone since Wang took over and be an advocate of things remaining the same when all that has come out of Wang's way of running the team is futility and embarassment.

I wonder what Botta's take is on the sale? Have not heard much from Botta.

I don't but it'd be nice to hear something positive coming out of this sale from BD or not. I can't stomach Wang anymore and him holding the majority for another two yrs makes me sick for obvious reasons. Can't stand him and what he'll keep here for another 2 yrs no matter what happens.
