Hope Ryan can address his problems and restart his career.

He was a disappointment in Tampa due to injuries and lacklustre play. Could be a low risk signing in the right environment but likely a 3rd or 4th line player at this point.

I don't see the harm in letting him try out, if he's good and has dealt with his off ice stuff then sign him. If not then don't sign him.

I would say invite to camp would be the lone route. Perhaps, there are some miles left on the tires?? Where would he fit in on this team is the bigger question.

Sure, why not a tryout...

I can imagine that he'd come in great shape and be highly motivated this season to put all of the drug stuff behind him and get a multi-year deal somewhere.

But, the big question mark for his health. He hasn't played 70 games in a season since 2008-09.

Guess I don't quite understand the sudden villification of a guy just because he's had a couple of off-ice personal issues.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and I'd guess that there are more than a few players in the NHL that use illegal recreational drugs. I've never been a Malone fan, but it seems a bit hypocritical of people to act like this guy is some sort of parriah because he got caught driving under the influence and in possession of an illegal narcotic.

So you are ok with using cocain and operating a vehicle? Don't down play the severity of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He's lucky he didn't kill someone. I will not excuse him for that decision but I'd be willing to give him a second chance to get his life together. Hopefully he has learned from it and it doesn't happen again.

He was found with cocaine in his possession, never said he used it.

I agree with you.

I dont really think he is the right fit for the team but at league minimum, two-way deal I'd be okay with it. Given that he truly changed and could be a positive influence on younger players..

Well, why? We seem to have a bottom six. He is a big body but a slow skater to put it kindly. I don't think we need a slow, aging player. He won't last till the playoffs based on injury history.

No I'm not okay with it, but that has nothing to do with my point. I don't have any real stats, but I'm guessing that the majority of people, not all, but the majority of people that either have drank, or drink on a regular basis HAVE gotten behind the wheel of a car after having done so.

So as I pointed out, it's pretty hyporitical to condemn someone else for doing it just because they got caught.

Piling up 4th liners is not what we need. I agree.

Thanks for the restaurant tip, btw. I will be hitting it up soon.

Had dinner there this past Saturday, Pollo Abruzzo. Pan fried chicken breasts(2) with gorgonzola cheese sauce, over a bed od balsamic reduced spinach and mushroom and a side of garlic laced pasta. Unbelievable signature dish.

Seems logical to give him a tryout if he is interested.

Still enough guys he is friends with in the room to help keep him straight...I would think.

I just hope he stays outta his car when he's using or drinking. By all means do what you want with your life, just don't get into your car and endanger others.
