Don't expect Bobby Ryan to re-sign before the start on the season. He wants to see an increase in his playing time under MacLean before he commits to anything long-term.

I'm still not sure if I rather keep the top line intact or put Stone with Turris and Mac and have Bobby play with Zbad.

On another note, I love how Bobby Ryan texted Clarke MacArthur 'Thanks for leaving me in the trenches taking all the grenades' after he signed his deal.

First off, nice job blogging Travis. It's been consistent feeds and it made the off season more enjoyable to talk hockey

Second, ya I agree (above). Was thinking this yesterday. You would try 16-7-6 but I think if the Sens try MZ in Spezza's spot (I think Murray hinted that Free Agency day) then Legwand could slide into 3RD spot:

Michalek - Zibanejad - Ryan (could gel well)
MarArthur - Turris - Stone (This could be 1a)
Condra - Legwand - Chiasson
Greening - Smith - Neil

Def a lot of options

I would much rather fit Hoffman into the lineup than see Greening get his ice. Hoping to see a trade pop up soon. Even if it's not for high end talent since we are not spending, I'd like to see some D-men and/or Greening, Neil moved with either a better D-man or picks coming back. We need to dump a few bodies.

Big mac fan, I'd say at tracking guys he's the best on the team - we still need a player who creates turnovers by turning players coming out from behind their net like Alfie did - we didn't seem to have a single forward last year who could cut guys ice off and force passes that our 2nd and 3rd forwards could battle for - Stone seemed to have that keen sense of open ice forcheque / maybe Chiasson or Legwand? Whoever it is we need one in our top 6 that can cut guys off and force bad passes, it was pretty much non-existant last year and we saw Cowen, EK, Methot and Phillips (actually all of our D pay for it badly)

This lineup is probably what you are going to see. That begs the question where is Hoffman and/or Lazar fitting in? I don't see them benching decent sized contract in Greening and Neil. Lazar may not make the team but Hoffman has been signed to an NHL deal and should be poised to play.

I'd rather start with Chiasson on one of the top two lines. Give him a chance to be a top 6 player with some better line mates. With his big body I could see him and Zib playig well together.

Yes. Hoffman and Lazar in the line up and trading Greening would be ideal. The Sens also have Prince and Puempel who aren't too far away from cracking the big club for a game. Condra is UFA which begs the question whether he is back. I think he's much more valuable than Greening; plays quality PK time and is obviously not going to be paid big $.

I don't think $2M sitting in the press box is going to look good to uncle Eugene

Don't worry, he'll let Ryan walk to make up for it.

I'm pretty sure his playing time was low mostly because of he was playing hurt for a while.

Hey come on. I kept an entire day of laughter to myself (err, well, at least out of Yost's threads), following Macarthur for almost $5M signing. Just a little input like that is pretty minor.
