Glad we started the tank a little early. Would be funny if from say 2016-2020 the last place team won 1st overall each time.

I didn't really think it was a BS Blog. Comments are awesome but they actually aren't used in my evaluation at all.

I would tend to agree with you. Or atleast say they have a good shot. They added a lot of good depth and there stars should be better than last year you would think.

The Oiler rule....when it has absolutely nothing to do with the way the Oilers have sucked...

Teams that actually suck, will still get good picks. It's designed to stop teams from tanking purposely once they are out of it. A tank shouldn't be rewarded. The Oilers like the Panthers, Sabres, Nordiques, Pens, Hawks, BJ's etc of the past didnt tank (with the exception of the Pens in the Lemieux draft) they were just terrible teams.

If this were about the Oilers, wouldn't it punish drafting 1st in consecutive years? Or so called "stocking up" on multiple 1sts by factoring in previous drafts like the 05 ball system?

That would be a more clear indictment of the Oilers...and coincidentally the Avs for their best of both worlds tank every 2nd year strategy.

They were terrible teams on purpose. We have to be able to at least admit that.

So having your best Dman, Best goalie, and top Forward all go down for season long injuries is losing on purpose?

Trading away Smyth, or Penner doesn't mean you are trying to be terrible on purpose...they were just bad.

I'm interested in the Avs this year. They drafted ROR and Duchene and then Anderson had an unreal year to make the playoffs, then the next year they sucked and drafted Mackinnon and the varly had an unreal year last year. Wonder what they will be like this year.

I'm hoping for playoffs however don't see it happening. So my realistic hope is we improve to 9th to 11th in the west and draft 1st
