Fair assesment, but the blueline has improved even though many dont think it has on an outside glance. I think the offence will be fine, those 25 goals should be able to be made up easily by Iggy and the growth of MacKinnon.

Stuart and Redmond dont seem like huge upgrades but they replace Sarich and Guenin with seem like improvements to me. Having Barrie for a full season will be huge, which moves Benoit out, as well as the nice gradual improvement of Holden throughout the year and playoffs.

Its a stronger D Core to start this season over what was starting for the first 1/4 of the season last year.

I bet Redmond will be impressive.

I liked him in his stint with the Jets, I think its a under rated signing. Could be a really good 3rd pairing guy with Holden

Redmond was a signing I thought was solid. Hope he pans out. If not, then hopefully Elliot can step up.

I'm highly skeptical of the Stuart move.

Yea, that would be odd to let a player with his potential walk when you just brought in a new head coach who will likely elevate his game...

Don't forget also that Duchene missed a decent chunk of games down the stretch last year, and you'd have to assume that's worth a few more goals as well. I don't think scoring is going to be the problem this season, I think it's a potential regression to the mean for Varlamov, which could be catastrophic if those shot differentials stay as lopsided as they were last year.

It would be a mistake to let him go. I believe he still has more to show....especially offensively. He sure is a gutsy guy.
