Hey Bill,

Any scouting report on Rusk? Curious to see guys who are invited to camp since they won't have as many as they did last year. Seems like they only want to bring in guys who they want to look at and not every tom, Richard and harry.

To add more perspective on Recchi,

The job Barber did during that time is debatable. What is not debatable is Barbers standing in the game of hockey. He is a HOF and an organizational icon. The way some of the players reacted after that playoff was reprehensible. Barbers wife was dying of cancer during that time. He never said a word about it.

As Jsaq noted on the last thread, there were sveral players involved but Primeau took ownership for his role something Recchi never did. My issue with Recchi has always been about character, not talent. Hes a great player, a HOF in his own right, but, to me, hes not a Flyer.

So basically:

Nickelback sucks
Recchi was a great player, but a total douche as a person
The Flyers have invited a teammate of Morin's to camp
and,
Nickelback truly sucks!

Thus endeth the lesson

Great write up on Flin Flon . Clarke was my favourite player as a kid.

I guess EK's last post which stated there would be a " Monday morning update" on Flyers clearing cap space isn't happening since it is now Tuesday morning

Meh, there ain't nothing gonna happen there. No team is going to give the Flyers a break and there is no reason for the Flyers to break the bank to try to make a deal happen that hurts them in one area and only moderately makes them better in another.

Their father, Wilf Sr., was a former national senior arm wrestling champion.

Also, he was apparently not a fan of contraception.

I kind of figured that but hey.. At least that thread had over 500 comments on it.

I would like Hextall to pull a deal out of his hat to improve blueline, but I know it is very unlikely.

Exactly. There is no line forming to help the Flyers with getting cap space.

I'd be fine if they went into the season as currently constituted. I don't have parade aspirations this year, and I'd rather they set themselves up for a few legitimate runs at it in a couple of years.

Clarke and Leach would still beat them at beer pong.

Back in their day, Clarke would have slashed both of them with ping pong paddles and they both would have drank all the beer.

If you made a list of the dirtiest players to ever play in the NHL, clarke would be near the top of the list. No doubt he was talented and a leader for the Flyers.

I absolutely agree that they shouldn't be the favorites, or even in that kind of conversation.

But I believe that if this team is truly in tremendous skating condition, and is truly committed to sound defensive play, they are a lot closer to resembling a team like the 1999 Dallas Stars than people might realize.

They have absolutely got to skate, do every little thing right. That includes not taking stupid penalties. But if they do that, and Schenn and Couturier do what we all hope they do...man, I'm telling you, they will be a tough out. They truly will be a tough, tough out.
