Good morning, Flyers Fans!

Not in favor of a deal right now, because I feel the Flyers need to take 30-40 games to see if/how Baby Schenn and Couturier have improved and whether or not Umberger is a decent fit and the defensive system holds without Timonen.

Just my opinion.

NO BOGO and NO BIG BUFF

Buff can eat all the cheese steaks in the world and as many crab fries he wants as a visitor and Bogo is a NO GO. Young brittle over priced and out of position a great deal

Bogo is under contract for 6 more years, only played close to a full season once in 6 seasons (twice if you consider 71 games 'close'), and was a plus player twice.

Not sure I'd take the risk on him, given that he'd be our second highest paid D, but if the powers that be bring him on board, then "Go, Bogo, GO!"

Hmm, Bogo... tough call

Plusses
Good size and mobility, shoots right, adequate skills, good on the PK and was a +3 on a bad team while playing 22+ mins per night

Minuses
Injury prone and doesn't put up the kind of numbers you'd expect for a guy with his skills.

All in all, the only Flyers dman I would rate above Bogo is Coburn, and he's only just turned 24 , so, depending on cost, I'd be in favor of acquiring him

I would take Bogo in a heartbeat. May never become the offensive force/ potential franchise D he was hyped as in 2008 draft but he is solid and eats a lot of minutes when he is healthy. Big and mobile, and that is a valuable combo.

It's the 'when healthy' part...I don't know his history - severity or if any of his injuries are repeats to the same part of the body, for example - but how long before all of his boo-boos start to have a cumulative effect on him?

He could end up to be the greatest thing since sliced bread if he comes here; I don't know. And I'll root my ass off for him if it happens, but he's just a big question mark for me right now.

Agreed. He is worth a 'risk' though I think the risk is low since at worst he appears to be a good #2. I would need NEED to send a big D contract the other way (i.e. AMAC, Streit or Grossman). In that order is my preference as well. Without sending a big contract it is cap suicide and I am not in favour from a cap standpoint. BTW that video reminds me the Carle play where he gave up the game and then apologized. Only one moment in an otherwise good career to date.

Bill, you have not mentioned your thoughts on the Knapp signing yet. Do you have any?

Thanks!

I realize that there are clips out there of any player screwing up that are not representative of their normal play. I just thought I'd toss that one in there anyway.

Any rumor involving the Jets is not going to happen. Their management is like the RAJ. They ask for waaaayyyy too much in return. They haven't made an NHL player(s) for NHL player(s) deal in 3 years. Only team in the league that hasn't

Have to figure they are due to make a trade sooner or later.

One could also look at this as a positive. Perhaps they get trigger happy and make a poor deal. Something needs to give with that organization missing the POs for 7 straight years and every year since being in WPG. It smells of desperation.

This .gif is hilarious. But its just a physical mistake, players make them all the time. This one just happened to be pretty egregious. But I worry much more about players who are prone to stupid mental mistakes.

I dont know what it would take to get Bagosian, but I wouldn't give up the house.

I have heard rumor of Schenns for Bagosian. Maybe....

They should have already dealt Kane. They don't sign free agents and don't make trades. It's difficult to win by only acquiring talent through the draft. Puts a lot of pressure on your scouts to be right every time

The thing is, Bogosian can be a damned good player, and might just need a change of scenery.

It really should be cost dependent, but given his injury history and battles with consistency, the Flyers shouldn't be willing to part with a massive return to get him. That said, if he comes in, finds consistency and manages to stay healthy, they could get a guy that fills a massive hole for perhaps less than it would cost otherwise.

That's a tough one. I'd like to move something besides Coburn. If they could replace Coburn with any other defenseman on the roster, plus an additional pick or prospect, I'd strongly consider it.

I just don't see the need to add offense as drastic as the one to add defense, and while Bogosian might, in time, equal or better Coburn, it's still a lateral move in terms of the defense now...and likely in the short term(2-4 years) future.

LOL, most likely. They are probably asking for Couturier, Morin and a 1st!

Re those concerned about labeling Bogosian injury prone: While it may be legit, I still think he's worth the risk if the Jets are willing to make a reasonable trade. For example, injuries held Tim Kerr to only 153 games in his first 3 seasons. However he went on to play 304 games during the next 4 and scored 224 goals.

Obviously I am in no way comparing Bogosian as an impact player to Kerr, I'm just pointing out that it might be foolish to write him off as injury prone at the age of 24.

Agree, no way I trade Luke and Braydon for him. Luke was great against NYR in playoffs, the Jets would have to give more

I'd probably do the Schenns for Bogosian, assuming nothing else was added. It's a stiff price, but it provides the Flyers with a very good young defenseman with a load of potential. The money works out well and it does open a center spot to place Lecavalier at his preferred spot.
