Damn your team is looking good this year. Stevie Y sure did have a great offseason.

I like the Callahan signing love what he brings. Stamkos Callahan Druin sounds like the makings of one of if not the top line in hockey next season.

Then you signed Morrow which I also think is an amazing signing for you guys. He brings exactly the attitude you want your young team to learn from.

Im really looking forward to watching this team play!

Brian Boyle was signed for one thing only in my opinion which you stated in your blog the Penalty Kill. He was great for the Rangers on the PK, he was used heavily on the PK, and the Rangers PK was great so there is some correlation there. He along with Callahan in my opinion will bring our PK way up over the season, probably top 10 good.

The other thing about Boyle is I think he will increase his points output playing with the Lightning, remember the Bolts will always be a offensive score first team as long as we have Stammer, Johnson, Palat, etc. Boyle will get more opportunities to score playing in the Bolts system. But again he was brought in for the PK which was something Thompson struggled at last season.

Boyle was a good signing. Good player on the PK. Good player to have in the playoffs. Will always be a 4th line player but a very good one.

Not to mention the fact that he is an ex- Ranger makes it all the more (no pun intended) sweeter. So lets see...two first rounders, Cally, Strah, and Boyle...thank you Marty!

can you guys do me a favour and put up your projected line up. I was looking at your roster on cap geek and couldn't quiet make sense of it yet to get under the cap.

Ohlund LTIR and does that mean you have 3 rookies (Drouin, Kucherov, Connolly) and 3 sophomores (Brown, Palat, Johnson) making up your forward ranks?

With Ohlund on LTIR I get it to fit without any problems.

Something like...

Drouin-Stamkos-Callahan
Palat-Filppula-Connolly
Killorn-Johnson-Brown
Morrow-Boyle-Panik
Kucherov

Hedman-Garrison
Carle-Stralman
Brewer-Gudas
Barberio

Bishop
Nabokov

I'm really warming up to the idea of a Drouin-Stamkos-Callahan trio. There's a little bit of everything on that line.

Palat-Filppula-Connolly sounds like a damn solid second line too.

It's a good looking line-up, but I'd worry a bit about defense from the forwards.Obviously the fourth line is not going to be an issue there, ad you'd expect the first line to have the puck in the O-zone most of the time, but it might be an issue for the second and third lines.

PS: What's with the graphs...? They confuse people. Just watch the games instead....

Palat got some Selke attention and Filppula is a great defensive forward, so that line doesn't really concern me. Johnson is that same sort of player. Killorn is a good two-way forward as well. Most of the young guys the team has brought in over the last few years have been excellent two-way hockey players. Even Kucherov, who is probably the most offensive of the bunch, isn't bad in his own zone.

Quite honestly, I think the fourth line is the worst of the bunch. It'll be a possession drag.

I might start watching games this year. I might not. Haven't decided yet.

Yeah that's what I thought from looking at capgeek, pretty young line up, looks good though, just wasn't sure if I wasn't missing some vet not listed on the site yet. As long there are not too many growing pains with the rooks and sophomores should be a solid season for you boys

Just checked the voting, 11th for palat, couple 3rd place and 5th place votes. He's good and will get better but that just seems like crazy local beat writers giving him some love, can't honestly think he was 3rd best 2way forward if it wasn't a homer pick

Agreed. Palat was impressive, but to rate him above at least two of Toews/Kopitar/ROR/Bergeron is just madness.

Elliotte Friedman had him 5th. Wasn't just the local guys who liked him.

I don't think he deserved to win it, but I was just trying to highlight that he's far from a defensive liability.

Hossa, backes, and datsyuk can be your 3 rd picks (even in an injured season for dats) I like palat but that's crazy to have him above all those guys in his rookie season.

I'm not sorry, good place to work for what I do, I enjoy it

5th is fine just the 3rds seem a bit shocking. No different than shattenkirk getting a few 4 th place votes for Norris, good player but still a head scratcher to rate him that high

Engineering? It's what Alberta seems to do best.

I do like the city, but I think it would be better for the size to remove around 200k people to reduce the craziness. I'm just up the road in Edmonton, and it's much more laid back here

Close, architecture. City and province is projected to steadily grow for the next 25 years. City is suppose to be 2.5m by then, province is to be over 4m

I can believe it. I could see YEG and YYC counting for at least 4m between them by then.

We've definitely enjoyed the opportunities given here, but would like to get back to Ontario in the near future... My wife is itching to be close to the water again

Im originally from manitoba, so going back home isn't too hard. Love going back to party and visit (miss the family lake side cabin) but can't see leaving Alberta anytime soon.

Understandable. I'm hoping to get a post-doc research position at U of T which would make the transition much more easy for us.

Anyway, I'm out... have a good night!

I think Tampa might have been victim to a system/players. I'm curious to see Boyle on the PK in Tampa...without Henrik, Mcdonagh, and Girardi.
