Wonderful write up. My French is unfortunately limited. Can anyone give us the cliff notes on Morin's interview? Especially the Flyers related questions. Thank you!

Paddock has seemingly always had good success at the minor league level as a manager & coach. Good hire for the Pats.

If they are going to do something like that for Lou Nolan, it might be best to wait until he is retired, no? But you don't want to wait too long, I guess.

After all......I'm fairly sure the microphone banner thing was actually done after Zink died.

I'm pretty sure that is Bill's point.

At the same time, you don't want to appear as if you're pushing the guy out the door....which was my point.

Why would it appear that way?

Everyone that has a banner in the rafters had to retire or die to get up there.

You don't think that sends a message? Fair enough. But not everyone would see it that way.

No I guess not.

But if its known he isn't going anywhere, I don't see the problem. Let him get some accolades while he is still around. 40 years is enough I think.

I guess I was surprised that people think so negatively sometimes. But its Philly, negative is their middle name.

I don't think that has anything to do with Philadelphia negativity.

It's like giving a gold watch and retirement party to a guy who just turned 65, but has no intention on retiring.

Oh, I didn't say it wasn't negative.

I just disagreed that the negativity in this case is germane to Philadelphia.

That view is one from 20 years in corporate America.

No I get that. But to automatically apply it to Lou Nolan and say hey, the Flyers want to honor you for 40 years of service while you are still here and can enjoy seeing your banner up there....

It just strikes me as cynical to automatically jump to that point of view.

Fair enough. It is probably cynical.

And don't get me wrong. I love Lou and want to see him get honored.

I also wouldn't want him to feel, from an organizational perspective, that he's being pushed out the door. I'm a season ticket holder and, as far as I'm concerned, he's one of my favorite parts of coming to the games.

don't fool yourself. he writes these up in bulk and then spreads them out, sprinkling in the previous day's minor news at the top.

Its funny. Those who know me personally here, would say I am one of the most cynical people they know lol.

It just never dawned on me to take that angle, and now that you have pointed it out, I will be having that in the back of my mind lol.

he's the only visible/tangible element from the live flyer experience from my childhood. definitely one of the best parts of going.
