I don't know why but I have a very good feeling about this Oskar Lindblom kid. Seems like a very solid late round pick. Also just a feeling but I have high hopes for Bellamare too coming into the season.

Kyle Calder. Good Lord. Eight years isn't enough to forget just how awful that guy was for the Flyers.

That was a disaster. He seemed like he didn't even care.

Well, except about his wings at the carnival. Those he seemed to really like.

Hard to think which guy I hated more as a Flyer: Kyle Calder or Mike York.

Might be Calder, if only because we gave up Zeus to get him and I always liked Michal Handzus.

I hated York because he seemed to kill the Flyers as a Ranger, yet was terrible when the Flyers had him.

Handzus went on to be a very productive player for years. That makes it even worse.

This.

BTW: Bill, did you just start a Morin/Ekblad debate?

Jk I know it's not what you were reporting.

Can't believe klotz never turned into anything

There was so much promise of him getting his face punched in consistently when they drafted him

I'll tell you what: I thought Daigle and Falloon were better than Calder, and that's saying something.

And Calder was better than Geoff Sanderson, who is EASILY my least favorite Flyer, EVER.

Lasse Kukkonen and Garrett Klotz for him was a monumental steal. To emphasize how bad he was, I repeat: acquiring Lasse Kukkonen and Garrett Klotz for him was a steal. Garrett Klotz.

Which metric are you using to judge this? Because I can't figure out where you're coming from. At least Sanderson was fast. And came much cheaper. And landed us Lupul/Smith (along with Pitkanen).

There can be no worst Flyer ever than Billy Tibbets. None. Ever. He was the poster child for complete and total scumbag!

Well, that also takes into account his off-ice play. But yes, he got booed at home games because of how horrible a person and player he was. Also could not find a way to root for Ulf Samuelsson or Marc Bureau because of their past. I also never liked Roman Vopat, but that's because he made Gino Odjick look like Pavel Bure. But I think some of the people on here are too young to have strong memories of those guys.

Yeah, it was a fight like 2 seconds into a game.

Edit: Yep. Here ya go, a fight against Westgarth (can't see the seizures):

He's pretty awful, but he was pretty much hated the second the Flyers acquired him. There were really no expectations....I mean, other than the bad PR hit the organization took for picking that kid up (although, it retrospect, the organization has given other hard luck cases second chances, but this one was a bit much IMO).

Kyle Calder was actually a name that could allegedly play the game a little bit. There were actually expectations for Calder when he got here, which he fell woefully short of.

That was scary. Was Klotz an epileptic?

Because I'm pretty sure being a hockey enforcer (such as he was and attempted to be) is not something that would help that condition.

I remember the uproar when Tibbetts was acquired. My fiance at the time, who was a huge Flyers fan, had been a victim of abuse, and she lost her mind when they picked him up.

He was convicted of statutory rape of a 15 year old when he was 17. And then spent 39 months in prison 3 years later for witness intimidation and assault and battery.

A real prize winner this one was.

That game was a rare Phantom TV game here in Philly. I remember being pretty jacked to see phenom defensive Dman Ryan Parent play. He looked good, Klotz did not. Klotz just got careless and ate a monster punch from Westgarth. One of the things.
