Sorry but nowhere in this blog do I see a mention of the impending trade of Boychuk to the Isles. Come on.

Yeah, I don't hate Cespedes, but I still think you gotta pay your ace. But yeah, Cespedes may knock the Monster down. They got great value for Lackey and Miller though.

Easy there. Once upon a time this organization took Ray Bourque to arbitration.

Isn't the rumour that Lester is just going to come back in the off-season anyways?

Ty,

Based on your list, I would say Campbell would make the most sense. IMO the Bruins should have used a buyout on him. No desire to trade the others except Kelly who has a no trade clause. I'm just not sure any team will take on a 3mil per, banged up 4th line center and I want nothing to do with what Boston would have to take back for that.

How often has this happened, though? With teams like LA, ANA, SEA, NYY, and Texas who will pay him why would he? Especially after that 4 year 70 million slap in the face.

Something's gotta give. From what I see you cough up Marchand & get an OK return because teams have the Bruins by the short hairs or you move Kelly & you guys cough up a nice shiny golden carrot & not a useless prospect. Bruins have an awesome team & I would expect them to be top 10 if not top 5 in the league. Your first rounder is going to be a late one. Flames have cap space out the ying yang so Kelly & the Bruins 1st for a prospect of ours like Agostino & a 3rd solves a few problems. Be prepared to be underwhelmed by any trade to get under the Cap.
What are the consequences for not being cap compliant? Fines & loss of draft picks?

send Kelly to Providence and bury the salary in the minors. I know thats what they used to do i.e. Redden with the Rangers, if its still doable then go for it

It's not.

Or at least not entirely. Only about $900k would be cleared.

To me, Kelly is the only logical forward to trade. Way overpaid if you ask me. He should be making Campbell money. And I think Campbell brings a lot more intensity to the lineup. Kelly is also easily replaceable on the PK too with having Paille and Soup as a duo.

Problem is, I don't see a team taking Kelly that he would want to be moved to.

If you would've asked me a month ago, I would've said trade Loui for a 7th rounder and would've been happy. Now I can see how he is going to have a comeback year. Ty is spot on with his play after the Olympics, and he also showed great chemistry with Krejci in their limited action together

on that note, And im just spitballing here, do you think pc would be open to the idea of shopping krejci? pending UFA who we will very likely not be able to afford next summer, and would fetch a hell of a return, such as another younger centre

I would do Tanguay (3.5m for 2 years) for Loui (4.25m for 2 years) straight up but thats just not enough savings for you guys

Why trade when they don't have too? Like the flyers they also hold a ltir on a large cap hit. They can place him on ltir the last day of training camp but like the flyers they must use the entire allowance, meaning if they don't the team will basically already have replaced the injured player and will have no space even if they are projected to have space left after ltir. The ideal thing would be to be under the cap the first day of the season then use the ltir and have the entire amount to replace that player.

Well you are not alone with the trade Krejic camp. There seems to be many people that think the same thing on this board.

Personally I couldn't stand him and wanted him gone for the last few years, but this last year, playoffs not counting, he improved so much on the d side that he is a very very good two way center, IMO. They had him on the PK and he was very good as well. In the past Julien saved his energy with the other guys playing the PK, but he is perfectly capable of playing on that shut down role. That impressed me a lot.

Combine that with the playoff points and he and Bergy are the most two clutch players we have on the team and have a reputation if such.

If it was two yrs ago I would say trade him, but now......who would you have play as your number one center?

And before everyone says Bergy, NO......we have TWO LEGIT FIRST LINE CENTERS!

Letting one go and hoping for the best with solderberg and spooner is not too bright as far as I'm concerned.

Solderberg looks very good at center but half a year AND the fact he is legally blind in one eye gives me a bit of pause to put him in the category of Krejic and Bergy.

We won the cup with our strength at center.

We have been hurting the last two seasons with SPEED AND CLUTCH PLAY.

He has been clutch and he helps slow the game down too much to let go.

If he signed for $7 at 4 yrs maybe 5 yrs then he is a bargain and we should try to keep him.
Hoping a third line center can jive with Lucic and another first line winger is too much if a gamble in my opinion.

Especially with his improvement in his two way play. He can take the burden of Kelly's minutes on PK and we wouldn't skip a beat. The third line would then need to replace the point production loss, which shouldn't be drastic. I'm more comfortable with Solderberg and spooner helping on the third than the BURDEN of playing against the best players on the other team and still being a plus player.

FYI, Krejic led the league in plus minus with Bergy one point behind. Many people think that stats silly, but with PP points not counting, what does that tell you about his 5v 5 play?!?!

Chicago just signed two players for $23 million.

If we can have Bergy and Krejic, two star centers for maybe $13 million a year.....would that be so bad? That would have Krejic at $7.5.

One can hope Krejic sees the light or else your right, he is playing for Columbus with Horton for a max contract and a snowballs chance in hell of being relevant for 7 years.

I hope he wants to stay enough and BELIEVES in the bruins enough, and they look good at most positions in the prospect pool, that he signs for Bergy money.

With Toews at $10.5 Bergy would easily be in the $8.5 plus mil park if he waited.

Maybe we have something...........maybe.......?
