Randall Ritchey: Peter Mueller Signs A One Year, Two-Way Deal With Blues The St. Louis Blues have inked free agent forward Peter Mueller to a one year, two-way contract. Mueller, who played last year in Europe, will have to battle for a roster spot to stick around in the NHL this season.

Any reason you're paying a guy 5.8/yr to play on the third line?

I'd say Paajarvi, Lindstrom, Porter, and Mueller are the guys who will have the hardest time cracking the starting lineup.

I thought Backes was going to play Wing this season. Who played more at C last year, him or Steen?

Mainly backes. They'd switch off depending on whether the faceoff was on the left or right side

The Blues are going to be running three lines fairly evenly. He'll still be getting 17-18 minutes a night.

I was curious to see Rattie but I guess he's still 1 or 2 AHL seasons away?

Backes. Steen took some faceoffs on the left side, but that was the extent of him playing center outside of a handful of games. Backes going back to wing was mentioned by as possible Armstrong, but was always very unlikely to happen with Hitchcock as coach.

They just have Steen listed as LW/C on yahoo rotor wire, I didn't think he played much C but according to these guys he was taking situational draws

Ya so does any winger when the center gets tossed out of the circle.

Steen played a few games at C and also took situational draws for the blues.

He took 541 draws last year, more than Roy and Ott who are listed as Cs. Thats more than just getting tossed out of the circle. It wasn't that crazy of a question

I thought Toronto fans would be smarter when it came to hockey. Just like the leafs there good and big and bad at first then they just fall out of it. Lol

He actually played center for all of 2 games. He regularly took the draws on the left side then shifted back to playing LW immediately after the face off; and Backes shifted back to C, which is why Steen took so many.

Neither Ott or Roy spent many games at C for us last year either. Down the middle it was Backes, Sobotka, Berglund, Lapierre. Websites just list what a player was listed as his draft year, and almost never update. Oshie, for instance, is still listed as a Center many places, despite never having played center professionally.

Too bad such a promising career has gotten so derailed.
