I think Bennett surprises and makes the squad. I'm probably just jaded from how quickly Mony was able to display his readiness. Time will tell. Hopefully Bennett puts on serious gains this off season. |

Bennett will make the squad, then get hurt in his 10th/11th game because he physically isn't ready to play the style of game he does vs. full-grown men. |

So his contract can slide twice until a total of 10 games under both seasons or can he play 9 this year then another 9 next and still have his contract slide one more season? |

Nope... this isn't the Oilers. He'll finish junior and end up in the AHL for a season. |

That clause reads a little bit funny, I would take that as playing 10 games total in his first 2 seasons, but others could interpret that as 10 and 10 I suppose.
He will slide 1 season, as I don't think he accumulates the 10 games this year, but he definitely will next season. |

That's exactly why he shouldn't make the team, he may have the most skill of anyone (except gaudreau) but his style of play doesn't translate unless he is physically ready |

If he's ready, he's ready. We want to send the message to our young players that if they put in the work and play well, they can make the team. We also want our old guys *cough* jones *cough* to know that if they aren't playing well and working hard, they will not play at all.
Do I think Bennett will make the team? Probably not. Do I think he should be sent to junior regardless of his play? Hell no, it sends the wrong message to these guys. If he outplays our Nhl guys, and comes in physically ready for NHL play, then he should make the team. |

Of course but I doubt he will be physically ready in a month |

He'll end up in the juniors and tear it up at the worlds. Honestly the signed him, they can talk to him and tell him exactly what he needs to hear. Even if he's competing with NHLers I wouldn't keep him up unless he's outplaying guys like backlund or monahan. He's a natural centre and there's no need to rush him up. If they send him down they do the smart thing and tell him to focus on his game, his strength and his skating over the year. Then he gets all of next summer to train with calgary training staff and comes back more ready than ever to play. Besides, you know what Burke will want. |

I remember all the experts said that Wayne Gretzky would get killed in the NHL playing against grow men, lol. Eric Lindros was huge and tough and he couldn't even stay on the ice. High end skill, passion and grit along with smarts lasts in the NHL. Size means nothing without talent and heart, see Stevie Bernier etc. |

I remember people were saying Pat Kane was too small and skinny to play in the NHL, blah blah blah...The so called experts also said at the draft that Cody Hodgson was smarter and had a higher hockey IQ then anyone in his draft class lol, actually Hodgson is one of the very worst players in the entire NHL in his own zone, he is as dumb as a box of rocks. |

Colin Dambrauskas: Calgary Flames Make "Obvious" Decision & Sign Sam Bennett - Colin Dambrauskas
I couldn't be happier this Sam is a Flame. Another young man of character, and ability added to this interesting group. He will get his taste of a few games in the fall, but its in everyone's best interest that he returns to junior for another year. Flames are going to have a rough ride this year, hopefully he can kick some a$$ in league and the WJC. Enjoy being a kid with no worries for at least another year....Is it just me, or does anyone else think these young men get drafted a year too soon? |

Tell that to Colorado, i don't think they minded drafting mackinnon at 18 and watching him year up the league as an 18 year old |
