I don't think people realize just how good the Wiz is and has been when he's not hurt or suspended. He's worth the contract imo.

Really no need to worry about. These two will be a defensive pair for at least a few years.

Id Edmonton could redraft, they would take Murray in a heartbeat.
It should be interesting to see who among Murray,Rielly,Reinhart, Lindholm and Trouba become the best of the bunch

That draft really was great for young defenseman and The Oilers took Yakupov.

You do know that he was the #1 prospect right? Chances are 90% of the teams would have taken him #1 too.

People need to relax, it's too early still. Defenseman development curves are anything but straight up for a lot of young guys. Murray could hit a wall next year like Yak and Gally did this year.

That third one is Bob Mackenzie's rankings based on scouts.

I know he was the most talented player in that Draft. But right now, he's not better than RNH, Eberle, Hall or Perron. He might be, but he's not now. You guys without Gagner, need a 2nd line center. Draistail might become that. Now this is just my opinion, I think his game better suited on the Wing. Imagine if you had one of Galchenyuk, Trouba, Murray, Reinhart or Lindholm right now. Your team would be of a well rounded unit.

We have a lot of young dmen in the system. Trouba would have been beneficial since he's a right hand shot but he was no where in the conversation for #1 and you do not go off the board with a first overall pick.

Galchenyuk played 3 games that season. 3. Coming off a serious injury. Now, from that full draft year, you knew Yak could produce without Galchenyuk, but you did not know if Gally could without Yak. To be fair, Galchenyuk was my second choice, not Murray.

Reinhart projects as a second pairing with little offense. No thanks.

Lindholm has the benefit of a strong team, but does look promising. But he was a late riser and was a bit of a surprise at 6.

We took a safe and talented pick at #1 who needs the right linemates and coach. I think he will bounce back.

I disagree with Draisaitl, I've seen him play both and he has a good head for the game, so I think Centre is his calling. I can see future chemistry with Yakupov.

Edit: Also Hemsky wasn't going to stay in Edm. We still had a void on the wing.

Oilers are lacking the #1 dman for any of those young guys to play with. They dont have the depth to shelter them, and I am pretty sure their weaknesses would be exposed and everyone would go on about how we should have picked "the other guy" Yak had a really good rookie season and a rough second year, as long as he bounces back, there should be no issue with the pick. Is gally playing much center in mtl? Oilers have D coming up through the pipeline in Nurse Klefbom and Marincin who could all turn into top 4 guys but currently have little depth on the forward ranks.

Surprised how well Marincin played last year. Really solid pick with him. Once he puts on a little wieght, he's going to be good. Nurse was slam dunk of a pick.

I know who Bob McKenzie is.

I miss TSN's trade deadline, UFA day and draft coverage in the states.

We don't get in the states, at least NYC and NJ. NHL network broadcast SportsNet's coverage. Really is lame.

To answer your question, he's developping nicely and had a very interesting stretch in the playoffs when he came back from injury.

I have absolutely no doubt that Galchenyuk will be a very, very good players for years to come.

That didn't really answer my question. I am aware he is playing well, but is he playing center or wing. He was also a great pick, but to say he should have been picked over yak is way premature, especially if he has been playing on the wing.

He played on the wing with either Eller or Pleckaneck.

Yeah if we had taken one of them we would definitely be in the playoffs last two seasons....
