With Arco being your 2C i think it'd be more wise to move hall down to balance out the lines and provide scoring on both.

So
Perron - RNH - Eberle
Hall - Arco - Yak

I know the kid line kicks ass together, but we've seen last year the effects of only one line scoring goals. Just results in games more games lost.

If Arco scores 12 ES goals I'll be ecstatic. I wouldn't be surprised if he scored half of that.

If he scores half of that he would be shooting lower than he did this past year. It would be a nightmare.

Vinny to Edmonton would be a great addition. He's skilled, plays offense and is a veteran presence. Not sure what to send the other way.

He's too small to put any weight into his shot. Not strong enough either. I really hope that arcoAHLbello isn't the plan to replace garner, otherwise might as well have kept Sammy.

A 7TH rounder maybe . I thought the flyers were desperate to get his contract off the books. He is a savvy vet who could provide leadership. I would give him the C right away. If his back held up that would b awesome. Considering he played his career in tampa he probably wont waive his ntc to go to Edmonton

He would get killed playing in the western conference especially for a poopty team like the oil.

Setting shooting percentage aside, it could be that playing on a top 6 line with better linemates and against tougher competition, he doesn't match last year's shots/60.

Also, given the death of ability in the faceoff dot, I'd imagine that Arco squirrels some 2nd unit PP time and thus has a couple PP goals.

Andrew Cogliano is an awesome comparison for Mark Arcobello playing on an excellent team and he's usually rocking only about 10-11G at ES

They had no plan to replace Sammy. Doesn't mean it wasn't time to move on, but they definitely don't have backup.

Don't think we can assume AHL goalies are as good as NHL goalies i.e. AHL to NHL SH% (unless I missed something)

Pavelski played on Jumbo Joe's wing, I heard Backes is moving to wing, n ROR was a winger this year.

I'm still on the Anisimov/Nielsen train, but not like EDM's expected to make the playoffs anyway. LW will need work next year when Hall wants the hell out, though

pavelski played a ton of time at center this year. hertl and burns were joes wingers for the bulk of the season when healthy. point is; hes extremely capable at the pivot.
same goes for ror.
i dunno about backes, but hes a quality center.

i suppose ur attempts pointing out some very marginal discrepancies did have a small amount of validity.
but the original point was still fairly obvious and doesnt change.

id love anisimov. but im just not sure what it takes. and we've discussed that i dont think mact will be robbing one position, to fill another

Not trying to put other team's down and build EDM up here, pal. Just pointing out what the actual depth charts looked like. Although it does seem Pavelski played more time at C than I thought.

just strange that you'd post how much better the C depth is around the west compared to EDM, yet you wouldn't trade someone from an area of strength to help bolster that C depth

Need to make a deal, a strong one. Sucks to give up a high pick, and I understand the point of the blog, and I also understand Draisaitl is the future, but I also believe that in some cases, the future is now.

It's a little deep in the offseason to make a big deal, but there has to be something out there that can give Edmonton a better opportunity than what you have posted

I am a big Arco fan for all the many reasons you mention. His shot is his obvious weakness.

I watched him a lot in the AHL and he has an obviously great shot there... for the AHL.

Watching him in the NHL it really seemed when it came to shooting he would "freeze up" or "choke". There were many times where he had a wide open cage and just had to bury it but missed or whiffed.

I personally think his shooting and scoring will go up and up and up. He is 26 but only has a few NHL games under his belt. As he gets more confidence and experience in the NHL his shot will come round as well.

There is a big difference between scoring at the NHL level and AHL but he is so good in the AHL (10 goals in his last 15 AHL games) that we should see his scoring translate better than we have so far.

A little off topis, fellas, but in your opinions, which contradictory Anti-Oilers opinion is dumber?

1. Oilers are brutal for expecting another 18 year old high draft pick to be their savior this year.

2. The Oilers are brutal for having 3 1st over-alls in a row and still sucking.
