I don't think Seguin was ever used right in Boston but at the same time his production come playoff time is a red flag for me. I wish savard stayed healthy he could have taught him a lot

Just hope no ones signs SMITH to an offer sheet to really handcuff the Bruins! Like 5 years at 4 or 4.5 mill to to f$%k with them.

We'll look back on that trade in 10 years and use that to pinpoint the start of the decline of the Bruins.

This won't happen. The other teams that would have interest are contenders also, and close to the cap. Then again, we did just see Deryk Engelland get 2.9/season.

Just looked it up. Isles would have to give up a third and first for him and they must be their team's picks. No acquired picks count.

Ok how about this range? $1,682,195 to $3,364,391 that's a Second-round pick and more than enough to screw the Bruins over nicely.

I think the player has to accept it before it goes to the Bruins to match or let go. Also the Sabres have the Isles second too

I think he'd be a great fit on the Nucks but the compensation needed to sign him is too high, especially if you guys draft in the top 15 next year

If we sign him for $3,364,391 its only a 2nd rounder, even if that is the 31st pick overall its still worth SMITH and screwing the Bruins!

That was a really good read. Never did fully understand the background on the moving of Seguin and how it impacted the Bruins cap. Kind of nice to read something that is setting out the story rather than just pounding an agenda. Thanks.

I just.... I don't get it. Never did. #1 centers don't grow on trees. He is a kid who was having fun. I like Chiarelli, but he fucckked this up big time. Morrow, Ericsson and Smith will never have near the upside as Seguin.

Just a terrible move. Terrible cuz they probably could've traded him 1 for 1 to another team with a high end high ceiling player.... They didn't. 3 secondary pieces, that's it.

If it were me I would match a deal that only gives him a cap hit of 3.36M.

Even if you were to pull the stunt Calgary did with with their RFA offer sheet that deal is as follows:

2 year deal: 2.771M + 3.957M (qualify at $3.957M in 2 years, likely worth it)
3 year deal: 2.294M + 3.211M + 4.587M (qualify at $4.587M in 3 years, even if that is a bad deal in 3 years I cannot imagine that a cap hit for Smith at $3.364M would be that bad even with a bunch of bonuses).

Either way man...I only said Snow cause he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to being a GM anyways. So I figured he'd be ok with offering him 45 Million a season over the next 200 years.

Besides there are alot of teams that can offer Smith about 3 million a season and happily give up only a 2nd rounder.

As for Smith, if I were in his shoes I'd take a 2 - 3 year deal at 3 million a season anyways. I mean the Bruins can't give you that money and what has he really done to deserve more?

Perhaps Krug is a better idea for the offer sheet? Maybe Bartkowski? I dunno, just saying I would be shocked if someone didn't screw with the Bruins.

Then again what did Englland do to deserve his? So I'll just shut up now.

BTW: Teams can't offer-sheet Krug or Smith. You gotta have three years experience in the league to get an offer-sheet.

You know how i feel about the deal, it was a perfect fit for the Stars. But there is also the chance that the trade also motivated Seguin, it's unlikely he would have had the same year if still in Boston.

The fun part is the people that tried to defend the trade using Boston managements' behind the scene comments when discussing the trade. Nothing but a smokescreen to hide their cap issues. Still those cap issues got you 1 cup and a lot of elite hockey, unfortunately in a capped system you'll have to pay the piper sometime.

With Seguin, Bruins would of been in the finals and probably won the cup. Bruins are not fast enough and Seguin brings exactly that.

Seguin should not of been the Bruins Cap casualty. He should of been part of the foundation. Yes he was immature, but that is part of the growing pains.
