Ouch. That hurts for Nashville. GL to Spezza getting onto a contending team. Nashville would be a perfect spot for him to play. They would be a playoff team again with him and Neal. Now hes hurting the Sens.

Honestly kind of feel bad for Ottawa. I've always liked their team but it feels like they're just collapsing so fast lately.

This sort of stuff is the worst for a GM. "I demand to be traded.... Just not to any team I don't like."

So how does a GM get fair value when a player controls what assets they get in return for themselves. ? I think all fans are in agreement. If the player initiates trade request / demand. Then they should not be able to select where they go. At least limit it. Like select 5 teams you don't want to play for and the other 24 are fair game.

He probably wants to go play for the New York Rangers, just like every other high profile player prone to throwing a hissy fit.

He also doesnt want to be the IT guy no? Doesnt want to be blamed for the teams failures. He would be crucified in NY. Seriously though. Pred's woulda been a good spot for him. I dont see how he gets onto a top contending team.

Considering what they think they should get from St. Louis it must have been a HUGE offer. Weber, Forsberg, and a first at least.

It's pointless to negotiate with a team that is on a no trade list. This is Murray's fault. Why he was wasting his time negotiating with a team Spezza has already said no to is beyond me. I don't understand why people kept talking about Nashville, Florida, Calgary, and others for potential deals when they are on the silly no trade list. It's a waste of time.

Murray should have discussed the possibility of Spezza amending his list before wasting time on a deal. Maybe Mike Fisher can bail us out again? But if he was going to do that, I think it would have been done weeks ago.

Not looking like we will get a great return for Spezza. Looking like it may get more ugly before things are done.

I agree...but i do believe spezza's agent told murray that he can definitely bring them offers from teams on his no go list...im pretty sure I read that somewhere..

murray had 2 offers he liked and spezza said no to both places aparantly...which is just GREAT

Its Murrays job to talk to everyone interested. Then approach the player about rethinking it. Murray could tell Spezza that there isnt a team on your list with a decent offer. Maybe Spezza gets his head out of his ass and rethinks a few things. Its going to be that or take that contract offer he was offered.

What a selfish bum. He makes 7 million dollars a year to play hockey. He should be willing to play in hell if his boss asked. Someone needs to jerk a knot in his tail.

If this SOB (love Spezza) doesn't negotiate, he's just going to have to spent another year in Ottawa.

I think that's fine if a player has a no trade clause for all 29 other teams. But when a player has a carefully selected list of 10 teams, I doubt he'd change his mind.

At a certain point, it may come to that Spezza will have to toy around with his list, but at this stage in the game, it's on Murray to find a deal.

Maybe thats his plan. If there isnt a team he wants. He plays out his final year and hits the open market.

Screw him... make him play another season in Ottawa.

He wants out and tries to dictate where he is going too.

If I was Murray... I would tell the agent I'm not taking anymore phones calls for Spezza!!!

I know what your saying. But he has already asked for a trade out of Ottawa. If there isnt a trade within the teams he's willing to go to. Then you have to ask him if he will reconsider. Murray has to ask. Otherwise he isnt trying at all. I just dont see a contending team willing to offer what Murray is going to want to land Spezza. It could happen sure. But its apparent that the only offers are from teams that arent contenders right now.

He's a moron if he does that tbh. One injury next season and his career is down the drain. Whereas he can get traded to a team that might be willing to negotiate a contract with him. In one word he is making this whole situation "harder" than it needs to be.

$7 million is not an easy hit to take for most cup contending teams
