Can he play the left side? Or is he strictly a RW?

Asking for my friend, John.

Do they not realize that they're gonna have to spend somewhere.

With spezza's money off the books, plus hemsky and likely Michalek, are they even gonna be at the cap floor?

I think they *might* re-up Michalek. If he's willing to come down, anyway. Which is possible.

I assume they're throwing all their weight behind a potential Ryan extension for 2015.

Will Ryan want to stay if they aren't putting anyone else around him, though?

No doubt about Ryan, but how are they gonna reach the floor this year? They're taking nearly 15mil off the payroll losing those 3 guys

Hemsky's rights for orpik's rights?

This offer was perfect. I don't want Hemsky in this team. If we were going to contend this year maybe...he would be a good piece to add for a push, but not in our situation where we are building for a long contention. You don't build your team around top UFA. You build the foundation of your team from the inside and add pieces when ready.

I like the fact that the team is cheap right now because we will sign our players (Ceci, Ryan, Lehner, MacArthur, Wiercioch, etc...) and we will need more money when these players are established.

Murray's still in control, and in Murray I trust. He has a plan and I like that plan. Bloggers or journalist can say what ever they want, this team is doing the right thing at this point in time.

Don't get me wrong, love thos guys... Great young players. Point is, he sees that the Ownership isn't willing to spend to bring in the names they need to take a run at the cup....

Thats the only issue I see. I like OTT as a team, it's just too bad when you have a great GM, ut an owner that handcuffs him

Ottawa isn't ready to take a run now though. I'm an optimist, so I assume that when they are ready to contend (2-3 years) they won't be bogged down with bad contracts, and the money will be there

Da Costa

Maybe trade his rights for a conditional 7th!

Take these two out ,add in one of Berglund/Bonino or Cogilano then put Lazar on the same line a rw winger and the team takes shape

I'm curious if Ottawa's souring on Berglund with the news of a potential need for shoulder surgery.

I'd rather see a winger or d be the main center piece of the trade. Berglund seems sick. But the bigger weakness is the D and on the wings.

Gotta give Zib that chance to grab top 6 minutes. I have a feeling that if Berglund is on the team, he and Zib will be bouncing back and forth between the 2nd and 3rd line.

That also leaves room for someone like Pageau to move up. Most peoples expectations have been tempered a great deal now, which is for the best. Or like you said, give Lazar a chance to take the third line spot.

Spezza going to Nashville is more likely, but, certainly a concern for OTT if they did get a deal done with STL

Iam thinking we will sign or trade for another winger. The Stewart rumors are getting a bit clearer now .Say we get Berglund then put Lazar and Stewart with him, that gives Lazar some insulation. And the bingo line round out the 4th with neil as the 13th forward

LMFAO 3 years at $10 million for a 0.8-0.9 ppg career player? Even if he was overpaid at 5per with the Oil... 3.33 a year for a UFA?

I suppose there's the scintillating nightlife of Ottawa during the winter to lure him in with.

How realistic would it be for Josi to come back. I've only seen a bit of him, but really liked what I saw.
