We will take him. He adds some experience and veteran leadership to help Bernier develop.

I'd think he'd wanna go to a cup contender, Leafs are far from that

He has a lot to offer budding goaltenders. He's always been a mediocre save pct goalie; it's the way he manages his rebounds, coordinates his defense, and handles the puck that makes him so effective. He was very demoralizing to other teams.

I agree with you. Don't think Leafs make sense.

i think he just wants to play. He has won everything there is to win. I dont think he will end up in Toronto because they probably cant afford him. But in my opinion it does make sense. With Clarkson being there, and old teammate Shanahan running things. Plus his son now playing for Oshawa. Everything makes sense for him being in Toronto.

They're not a contender. The Leafs are a middle of the pack team. If Brodeur would accept this if it gets him more starts than Toronto is still not the place for him.

The whole reason Reimer is leaving is because Bernier has earned the #1 job. How does that get Brodeur more starts?

The Leafs might be the worst team for him. With his awful Save % his GAA would be over 5. I'm pretty sure he's played his last game...he's looked done for 2 years.

Behind a Contending Goalie, you could argue the starter plays 60+ games in many cases (Quick, Rask, Lundqvist) or relies heavily on tandems already established. In Toronto he can probably play 25-30 games, and the other reasons already mentioned do add appeal.

Probably won't happen, but it does present a good possibility.

Ya have fun with that. Cause the Leafs could use more drama.

okay... so Brodeur wants to play out the string... make a bit more money... completely understandable.

why would Brodeur want to go to TOronto, where he's likely to be in controversy over who is the #1, which doesn't do him or Bernier any good...

and why would he chose to go to a team that gives up what 35+ shots per night? clearly the Leafs can't afford and shouldn't want to afford to pay any back up goalies more than about 1-2 million per year. Is Brodeur going to face 35+ shots a night, a #1 controversy for less than 2 million a year.

give your head a shake.

no offense... but this makes no sense.

Toronto is a possibility because of aforementioned reasons, 25 games, Anthony in Oshawa, shanny, not the worst team. But they're horribly defensively, giving up twice as many shots as they take. Brodeur would be shell shocked.

If Detroit knocks, Brodeur should definitely take it. They at least play d, and Howard usually gets injured, if I'm not mistaken. 25 starts isn't out of the question.

I think Marty may be better than Lindback, but I'm not sure if Tampa would go with an old goalie like Marty.

Carolina and MN may need a backup. What's the story with Hardimg and Backstrom? When healthy, both are better than Marty, or do they just re-sign Bryz if they need a goalie.

Brodeur would an awesome addition for the Leafs although I doubt he would come. I wonder if we can manage a trade for his rights and take a chance?

Reimer, 2015 5th

For

Rights to Brodeur, conditional 2015 pick (2nd if we don't resign Brodeur, 3rd if we do)

It's a gamble on Reimer for NJ but can turn into a steal for them. Unless they can somehow move Brodeur's rights for a 3rd or more than there is no point to the deal.

I don't see there being any goalie controversy with these teams. He just knows he won't get more than 15 starts in NJ. Maybe he can get 25 with some of these teams.

Not worth it. We need our 2nd or 3rd round picks more than Reimer. Worst case scenario if we don't sign a backup, and both Kinkaid AND Wedgewood falter, we just start Schneider every game lol. I think Kinkaid will be ok with 15 games.

I totally see Marty leaving and could even see him sign with a mid pack team. However I do not see how Toronto would make a lot of sense. They have Bernier he will play close to 65 games if not 65 games. It's the exact same situation is it not? I think Ek's "rumor" of him going to Pitt would be more likely but still think he wants to go to a place and be the number one.

If NY loses it'll ALLLLLL be because "he interfered with Lundqvist!!!" it was borderline. McDonaugh definitely sandwiched him just as Lundqvist moved towards him. "It's hockey".

just like I get to watch all these boarding non-calls that are more severe than the 1st EVER boarding MAJOR in an elimination game in a Cup Final. love that. i'll always love it. And i'll never forget it until I see the 2nd ever boarding major in a Cup Final elimination game. "discretion" call- per the rulebook. makes me crazy now an official can make that judgement call in such a circumstance.

every Ranger and fans see interference as the reason, the rest see a 2 goal lead gone, twice, and 3 unanswered goals to finish the game. 3.
