Thanks Bill. Are you planning on doing a pre-draft blog on potential Flyers draftees soon? Sorry but I just get sick to my stomach watching the Rangers in the finals and can't stand to watch.

Always a shame to see young players careers end early due to injuries. Wish him all the best with his coaching job.

This probably means that more than likely the Flyers need to draft 3 centers, and sign a couple free agent centers too.

Bittersweet story for Wellwood. He was a fast player with good hockey sense & would be a great fit for the Flyers now. It's great the Generals got him into coaching so quickly and started his career on the other side of the bench.

Best of luck to him.

So sad about Eric Wellwood. At one point the Flyers had three "speed kills" forwards developing in the system or on the big team. Kalinski, Powe and Wellwood. Two leg injuries and asst other injuries and they are all gone.

So sad.

Looking forward to reading your updates as we get closer to the draft.

Thank for the Rasmussen update, Bill.

Anybody else with a reported out-clause that you'd be interested in?

Really classy of the Flyers to offer him that AHL deal last season then offer him a player development position.

Complain all you want about how they form a roster, but Flyers management really knows how to handle situations like this. There's a reason players have so many good things to say about this organization.

They take care of their own, but sometimes it's to a fault.

I dont hold that against them. They have an outstanding reputation for being a class organization. I know they throw a lot of money around, but the players seem to want to be here too.

As much as we bemoan Snider, he has created a winning culture. Not a Cup culture, but a winning culture. Players want to play here because they know it's likely they'll be playing in the playoffs and the team will do anything necessary to win now. (That's more a fault than the loyalty imo)

Watching the fourth line for the Rangers last night made me want a better 4th line so bad. i know we need upgrades at other places. I just feel the fourth line could be so much better and take some hard minutes off Couturier and not be a liability out there.

Would have been awesome if Ryan Suter wanted to be here.

As much as I agree with you, it's gotta be pretty low on the priority list. So many pressing issues with this team... and so little cash.

C'mon Rasmussen!!

It's goIng to be tough to land him if Vancouver is involved. They have the swedes on that team. They have a great need also

Yup. Hextall has a lot of work to do. The cupboard isn't bare by any means, but he's got a fair amount of holes to fill, and like you mention very little cap space to work with. I'm hoping he's got some creative ideas.

Gotta be a tough pill for Canucks fans to swallow today. They exchange coaches with Rags, they miss playoffs and fire Mr. Douche, while AV has Rags clicking on all cylinders in SCF.

We should know what they feel like a little watching Flyers West a couple years back, no?

Maybe, but in the end that is what makes them such a attractive destination. I am constantly amazed how many former players, especially those who were here only a short time, remain in the area with the organization in some capacity. Or return to the area for other reasons.

Pretty much. There are a few tortured fan bases around the NHL.

I mean, Flyers West was like, 4 current players, an assistant coach, a fired head coach (Terry Murray), the GM, and an assistant GM.

And I will be reduced to rooting for them come next Wednesday night. Actually I enjoy watching them play, they've built a hell of a team out there.
