Spezza just moved in a street down from me in Etobicoke. Ran into him and the wife yesterday on a stroll with their two young kids and another on the way. The guy absolutely loves it here in Toronto and one could argue he could benefit from a change of scenery. I would happily give him a shot on the 1st line and he would be an immediate upgrade depth-wise for our top 6...who knows how he would handle the added pressure here though..
Phaneuf I would trade to the Jets for Byfuglien straight up no questions asked. |

why would they trade Phaneuf after just signing him, the coach and GM are the same two goofs, who all of a sudden does not like him or see him as part of the team? |

I see a trade with SJ as a real possibility. They are in a win now mode and have a need on D now that Boyal is to old. I dont think they have a major piece back to us though off there roster....I could see a Dion(nothing retained) for Havlat(cap dump),
Muller, Tierney and there 1st we may need to add a later pick also or even Riemer....These prospects are ready to try to make the NHL but have 0% chance to with SJ based on there current roster and players like Hertl that made the jump. |

Ah, I was wondering...well, I am not sure about overpaying...8th overall this year will be good, but not likely a top flight talent...Kane is quite a bit better than Phaneuf and I don't see the $1M/year being a big deal for the leafs if they can get Kane...my thinking is that it was pretty fair...although I think better fits for Pheneuf are out there... |
