We won't have the money to resign him. It's not rocket science. The only way is to trade 58.

If orpik isn't resigned and his money combines with Nisk's current salary, that would be 5.5 mil per year. pretty close. if doumalin/samuellson/pouliot/harrington come in and make around 800,000 or so and nisk was 6 mil, than pens could sign nisk and only raise the cap hit form the current one by less than 1.5 mil

I don't think Nisk is ready to replace the role that Letang has played on that team.

From them or from someone else, he'll get paid like it though.

The role of a huge liability? Im sure theyre better off with Nisk not getting as much points as Letang but having a more stable defense. While Nisk is also capable of obtaining the same points. Just saying even if he didnt. Pitts should have moved Letang last year. Now it will be a little harder to move him for a good return.l

I still cant believe the return Pitts got for Goligoski.

Orpik at 6 million a year for 7 years. Perfect compliment to Phaneuf.

How could it go wrong?

Just a hunch, but I think this will be the high water mark for Niskanen and points by a decent margin.

He's a lot steadier defensively, I'll give you that.

id take letang at 7.2 over niskanen at 6 long term

some gm will regret giving him 6 within the first couple years.

good player, love to have him. but anything over 5 is abit silly

I think it's a lot more dangerous to have a 4 million dollar player making 6 million than it is to have a 5.2 million dollar player making 7.2. And I think the sample size is way too small to take Nisk out of the first category and put him in the 2nd.

Not worth anywhere near that amount. He is a good offensive defenseman but he is big risk defensively. Last night his lack of physical play led to the 3rd Ranger goal and pretty much ended the game.

Worth 3.5mil a year maybe maybe up to 4 mil. In a great spot here being paired as the 3rd unit.

Nisk will get a Wisniewski type deal... I believe he had 10 goals 51 points the year before URF ... very similar to Nisk ... Wisk got 33 mil over 6 years... Nisk will probably get slightly less 5 years 25 million...
