Good write up...Crow has been very good...Kane was very good even if you take away the highlight goal...Smith was very good..as were Saad and Kruger...Hawks took period 1...Wild outplayed em in period 2 and period 3 was close until Kane scored the pretty goal....all in all good win despite them being off for almost a week...And that makes it 5 in a row, against playoff opponents....which very good...I bet we see a more focused team on Sunday afternoon

Kane doesn't disappear in the big games anymore. I think that is a sign that Kane has matured as a player. Never thought I'd use the words Kane and mature in the same sentence.

Winning the Conn Smyth last season pretty much indicated Kane not only shows up for the big games but for most big games.

Liked the way the team came out. Shows what they can do to this team if they stay simple and play their game. Unfortunately they were completely unfocused and sloppy in the second and early third. It's amazing it was only tied at that point. But the big players stepped up in the third and here we are. This was pretty much as good as Minny will play in this series and the worst the Hawks will play. I like our chances. On an individual level, kudos to the second line and also Hossa and Bickell. For the 4th line, I thought nordstrom was good but Bollig is playing himself out of a lineup. Going back to last year he doesn't seem to be nearly as effective in the post season as in the regular season. Surely we've got a couple guys who could give us his minutes w/o the boneheaded turnovers, regin or morin. Don't really care about his hits and he's not exactly deterring stoner. That's my only lineup complaint though and a better all around game from the team should deminish that.

Go home with the rest of the Leafs. (And while you're at it say hi to our old friend Dave Bolland).

Was the first period an aberration? Can the Hawks impose that kind of domination at will, or were the wild just asleep at the switch in the 1st? They sure looked awful in the second, and to start the third. However, as much as I hate that they gave up the dreaded two goal lead, it was good to see that they didn't hang there heads, and instead kicked it back into high gear again. Right after the Wild tied the fame at 2, the announcers said "it'll be interesting to see how both teams respond"...good response. Next time though, I'd prefer they just gang on to the lead.

How about that Stoner? He needs to be dealt with forthwith.

More than just a goalie win, most of the team was pulling on the oar.

-The Smith/Kane/Sharp line was dominant on most of their shifts
-Do Smith or Krueger ever lose a board battle?
-The 2nd PP unit looks better than the top unit
-Bollig does not have the skill set to be stick handling out of his own zone through the neutral zone. Despite his hits, he treats the puck like a hand grenade and is a liability in his defensive zone

The Wild have Stoner come out and start pummeling our guys, this forces Q to keep Bollig in the lineup for the rest of the series and Morin never gets to play. If I was a team playing the Hawks I would do whatever it took to keep Bollig on the ice.

I would take Bollig over Villieux and McCormick who are both in the Wild lineup

We are the Hawks, so we don't have to be happy with Bollig.

A lot of work to do: only nine SOG in the second and third periods.

That they got 4 goals on those nine shots (three in eight while Bryzgalov was in there) says something - probably that you need to put more shots - and more traffic - on the Wild goalie.

Yeah, he was a little too effective last night... Needs a little tenderizing.

Things a bit sour over in the Pens thread. Saw one of their posters suggesting that Syd get a night in the press box.

Too many shots were passed up in this game. You have a suspect goalie in Bryz -you can't pass on shots for that extra pass or skate around the net.
And that 4th line was scary (bad) last nite -adjustments needed here.

My point is if Bollig is the Hawks weakest link it isn't too bad when the Wild have weaker links

Bollig needs to remember who he is and stick to the basic game he excels at. When he tries to do more than he is capable with his skill set he gets into trouble. Bollig is a 4th line role player. That is all he will ever be. He does not have the skills to play on any other line, except for the occasional time to irritate the opposition or supposedly "protect" the stars. The turnover last night was un-acceptable. He should not be trying to stick-handle or beat anyone up the ice. Get to center, dump it in, and go pound on the opposition. That's your job. Remember it.

Almost every team has weaker links. The Hawks are one of if not the deepest team in the league.

Certainly not a good idea - but he does have to be better than no goals in 7 games.

But scoring doesn't seem to be a problem - 23 in the seven games - keeping pucks out of their own net is more of one - 21 in the seven games.

While Bollig had what 7 hits he also had one horrid turnover. Would rather see Morin out there. As mentioned Q will keep him in there, so he needs to start getting to Stoner.

Hawks looked sloppy for sure at times last night as they always seem to start a series slow.

Concerned about Shaw - although Q said he's (day to day) in the post presser. Shaw's the only guy on this team that will go to the net. Although playoff Bickell is really rounding into form (4 goals already).

Wonder if Steeger is still in the doghouse or if it was something else last night?

Craw to the rescue again with another 17 shot second period for the opposition.

The issue with the Pens is dub par coaching. A coach is primarily responsible for teaching and implementing a defensive system and the Pen's defensive system is sub par. Crosby would do well to watch a Hawk game to see what effort and leadership is.
