Unreal for Hishon, happy for the kid. Heres hoping hes our version of Krug last playoffs to debut and be an instant impact.

Even if hes not, to make his debut finally after such a hard time with concussions, hats off for him

Hope Hishon can succeed at this level and soon, we need the scoring with Barrie going down. Speaking of Barrie, why hasn't the Cooke suspension been announced yet?

This -- wow, I was stunned to see this on here. That kid had such a rough road, I'm totally rooting for him

To have such a promising start to a career...signs his ELC, has a great year in the OHL, in the memorial cup and then blind sided by a dirty hit. He is finally getting his shot, hope he can make the most of it.

It was awful, what was done to him -- I thought I read he had a concussion last year in the AHL, and I have to admit, I thought he was done

I sure hope he makes it.

Excited to see Hishon play. Kid has had some seriously tough luck. I think he's ready to make the jump...wonder what role/line he will play on?

read that he will be on the 4th line C bw Bordy and Carey, guess that means Malone gets a seat.

If Hish can show he can play at this level, and Mitchell can come back soon. I would love to see lines more like

Landy, Stastny, MacK
O'Reilly Mitchell PAP
McGinn Hishon Talbot
McLeod Cliche Bordy

Duchene will probably be back before Mitchell, he's not even on an exercise bike yet. That's only if we get to the second round though.

For the hit I thought it was going to be 6-10 games, if the nhl was planning on making an example of him that's when it would have been 10+

They usually save bigger suspensions for headshots and Matt Cooke isn't considered a repeat offender as per the new CBA.

The avs need a big win tomorrow. Can't let Minny gain traction in this series. It would be nice if the avs could win their next two games and CHI/STL goes to 7 so Dutchie/Mitchell have maximum time to heal.

And not to be a Drij but the avs are a far worse team without Barrie. He brings that energy and offense from the back end, is a legit PP quarterback, and is lethal in 4 on 4 situations. Huge lose.

Don't worry. There's absolutely no way for you or anyone to be a Drij. He's a special kind of pessimist.

It would also give some time for Parenteau to heal a little more as well. He's nowhere near 100%

I agree, he doesnt look right or comfortable yet, if we have any shot at a deep run we would need to bounce the wild in 5 and rest up with hopefully Blues/Hawks go 7

yup, steal a win from them in their barn, we get 2 cracks at winning it on our home ice, if we go into game 5 up 3-1, that place is going to be a very hostile place to play.

Well Colorado, you are officially back...you join the long list of teams/players who have seen their fortunes (careers) put in jeopardy by Matt Cooke.

As a Hawks fan I am not worried about any possible matchup with you guys (both of us have work to do), but Barrie literally blitzed us every time we played you guys. He was damn near the best player on the ice against us. He is among my top 3 "list of worries" when playing Colorado (the grade schooler may be my #1 worry), but when I saw him go down I peeked ahead to a round 2 tilt with the Lanche MINUS that kid.

And no matter what I feel disgusted. It is time that Matt Cooke be blacklisted from the NHL. SImply don't put him on your roster. Let him go play beer leagues somewhere, but seeing promising young careers put in jeopardy is NOT what the NHL is about.

This team needs to show that they are resiliante and have more depth than people expect. Every time goes through injuries to the road to the cup, but Barrie is a huge blow to us, wont be easy to get over that. He probably is our 3rd most pure offensive guy that we have behind Duchene and MacKinnon.

I would never have thought we would have gone an 8-1-1 run to win the division wtih Duchene out, this team works hard as a unit, they will just have to work that much harder wtih Barrie out too.

Hawks are looking like they are slowly waking up, Kane looks dangerous again and 100% back from that Knee injury. Get past the blues and you can be trouble to the rest of the west

7 games for Cooke
- AvsAnonymous

Someone needs to explain to me how Cook’s penalty warrants 7 games and the James Neil knee to Marchand's head only gets 5. Both have a history, but clearly the Neil incident was much worse and targeted the head. Seabrook targeted the head and gets 3 games. The department of player safety is a joke!! Remember the Taylor hall incident on Clutterbuck? Hall got 2 games. Also remember that both the Neil incident and the hall incident were major penalties and game misconducts. Cooke got a minor penalty. If Suter did this, there would not have even been a suspension. Brian Bickel anyone??

Playoff suspensions are weighted differently than regular season ones. There's also that. Something like 1-3 games per playoff game. Nothing standard.
