As long as Carcillo doesn't take a stupid penalty (which he for the most part didn't this yr for us) I'm ok with him in there. Can never have enough jam in there in Philly, in the playoffs.

I think the Rangers get back on track tonight, Hank steals the show...2-1 Rangers.

Philly gave him that nickname. If Ed had written that imagine the flack he would get.

Earlier today former Ranger and current Quinnipiac hockey analyst Chris Kotsopoulos posted this on facebook: “Passing, Special teams, Offense, Defense, Goal tending all need to be better. Be first to the puck, be first to initiate contact, be first back in your own end. Simply put be first in all aspects of the game.”

- airjan23

funny, that sounds an awful lot like what Flyer fans and Flyer analysts were saying after game 1.

I think his twitter handle is CarBomb as well, so I think Carcillo owns it more than anybody else.

And I like what he can bring to the game, just like Rino...but they can both take the dumbest penalties at times.

On tonights game, I think the Rangers need to find away to weather the storm in the first period. The Flyers are going to come out hard, and the place will be rocking. The Rangers need to get good goaltending from Hank, try to get out of the first period even (or better), and then try to steal the game once things have settled down. Basically, I think Hank will need to be in top form tonight for the Rangers to hope to win the game. Should be a real interesting game.

dorsett is too busy throwing himself into the boards to engage in or defend against physical play

And I'm sure NO Flyer has ever embellished or taken a dive.

Brad Richards said almost the exact same thing. So idk if you have a pulse on the team

But you saying and Richards saying it is two different things. B-Rich's comments doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Seeing that one live and from a good angle (Simmonds and Dorsett both facing me while I was high enough to look down on it), I was immediately up and yelling about the dive until I realized the refs had actually called it. I'm pretty surprised it's garnered as much disagreement as it has, since it wasn't a game altering call or anything, just a boneheaded move.

I know after our 2nd goal on Sunday, we did seem to relax a bit, and there were a number of bad outlet passes that misconnected as well as the final minute brain fart of a goalie pull...but beyond all that, I think more credit needs to given to Emery. After allowing the 2nd cross ice one timer goal, Emery made at least 4-5 Golden "should've" been a goal saves. Stepan, Nash, Zuccarello all had prime shots that were taken pretty quick off the passes. So no matter how bad we say the team played, it could have been easily a tied game in the 3rd if not for Emery.

It honestly doesn't take a heck of a lot to board a player when you crosscheck them in the lower back from behind. Especially when its not expected. Refer to Brad Richards going head first into the boards 2 years ago and being injured for a number of games. Most people thought Richards decided to dive head first into the boards on that play too. Theres a reason they say the most dangerous play in the game is checking from behind when you're about 5-6 feet from the boards. Cuz your just far enough to not use the boards to hold you up.

That had to be one of those situations in which the Rangers were warned and the ref saw it as a slight dive and called it. I wouldn't have called anything on that play. Didn't seem like the hardest push in the world and it didn't seem like the biggest dive in the world. I will say the Rangers were diving around quite a bit, not to say the Flyers are perfect, and probably had that call coming no matter what.

Not disagreeing with the call on Simmonds at all. Without a doubt he crosschecked him in the back. And as someone who has been injured by exactly that play, I have no sympathy. At the same time, it's hard to say that there wasn't an elongated pause between the contact and him then falling forwards in a controlled way. This isn't like the Zuc/AMac play where neither player really committed a penalty, but they called both. Here both deserved penalties

no, probably not ever.

It definitely wasn't embellishment, but at the same time Zucc DID go down a bit easy in my opinion. I think the refs saw that and decided to give him the penalty.

It probably should have just been 2 minutes to AMac for interference.

no question ... there were several instances of the Rangers diving/falling MUCH easier than I've seen them in the past.

Obviously it was a tactic to get some PP's, and not a bad one considering the refs know that the Flyers lead the lead in penalties, and anything borderline like that will probably get called.
