Raffi Torres - after he was unfairly suspended in the first round of last year's series against the Kings he had redemption on his mind and his goal also provided a big lift to the team.

UNFAIRLY??

Are you out of your f**king mind?

He's suspended for decapitating Marian Hossa 25 games and DIDN'T LEARN HIS LESSON so then he goes and pops Jarret Stoll in the grill and he's "unfairly suspended?"

I thought I was the biggest idiot on this site.

You just took my crown.

I'm agreeing with Matthew Barry here. Torres deserved his suspensions, he worked hard and earned that time off.

Insults are not necessary Matthew. I don't defend the suspension itself but I thought for the remainder of that series was excessive. That being said, that's old news and we'll see what happens in this series.

Why was Havlat a scratch? He ended the season with a natural hat trick which is an accomplishment although that game was not played like it mattered to many players.

Still here is a veteran who perhaps can step up, although that is hardest to do when he doesn't play on a top two line. Also to,witness:with Hertl being the new scoring kid on the team, well maybe this took some of the steam out of the coaches expectation for Havlat. Then too, does the coach like the line combination with Havlat on it in the match up with LA?

I am just spitballing here. Why wasn't Havlat in the lineup?

I noticed that too. I didn't ask in postgame. I think it's a match up issue and Coach McLellan didn't think he fit into the plans for game one. I'll ask if he is scratched for game two.

Did the Kings play?? That was one of the most pathetic attempts of hockey I have ever seen! Congrats to the Sharks for showing up since that's about all you needed to do against this Kings team......

Save the drama for your mama, Barry...& yes, you still wear that crown...

HB (and especially the Kings' blog) is a much better place without you, & you just reminded us why....

Review the tape for the umpteenth time, genius...Torres' hit on Stoll was shoulder to shoulder. I guess you forgot that basically the entire league (with the exception of Bettman, Shanaban & Dean Lombardi) thought the suspention wansn't warranted, or at the very least, excessive...

Aren't you just really bitter that the Kings didn't show up to play until the third period?

Now, back to the kids' table you go...let the adults talk about this year's playoffs.

Super fun game to watch and an insane 121 hits dished out - neither team is going too far into the playoffs if the keep punishing each other that much. Sharks looking like top contenders from what I have seen through game 1s so far.

121, ouch!

if the kings play game two like they did in third this wont be a gd series. sharks came out flat. a team even up by 5 shouldnt take a team like the kings lightly. i was nervous going into the last five min.

Sharks looked a little gassed by the 3rd period and necessarily turtled when the game got to 5-3. That was some great hockey by them for the first 2 periods. Props. Well-deserved win.

5 goals on 28 shots...and it could have been worse. The whole fkn team deserves the pretender label before Quick. Even your homer announcers Drew and Randy were saying the score could've been even worse had it not been for Quick who made a bunch of point blank saves.

Great fkn analysis. Watch the whole game not just the highlights next time.

I did watch the whole game which is why I asked Sutter for his opinion and saying he should have made the decision sooner. Maybe you didn't read that

Sharks came out hard and took game 1. Full credit to them for that. But honestly it is 1 game. Road wins are not easy in the playoffs, to me a split was best case scenario. I wont even say we played in the third because there is little doubt with that lead Sharks let off the gas too much and the Kings took advantage of it.

I expect a hell of a game Sunday and hopefully us Kings can squeek one out in this super balanced matchup.

I was thinking that to be the case. In I believe his last playoffs with Chg he was hammered badly, going down with injury. It has been a long climb back.....he has not really made it to the top .....still has ability, but is now playing somewhat afraid.

His hat trick end of season just caused me to pause and think, what if he starts scoring again. Not going to happen. Not against the physical Kings or, later, the tough and rough Anaheim Ducks. And then, too, Havlat playing third line TOI hurts his scoring.

On one hand, Torres doesn't really deserve to be in the league anymore. The guy is a scumbag and always will be in my books. He should be suspended for any borderline hit without hesitation.

On the other hand, if you look at that hit as an isolated incident, a guy was suspended for a hit to the head when he didn't commit a hit to the head. I think that's all Ryan was trying to say.
