Laviolette is known as a coach with a temper and has a reputation for not accepting a lack of intensity.

That would be great to see, I would have loved to see Patrick Roy in Nsh. However, I will miss Trotz, but not his lack of fire behind the bench. I can only remember him being fired up once and that was in Calgary back in 08-09ish.

Six years and $30 million… for Andrew MacDonald… really Philly?

Stick to the Preds big guy. They have enough issues to worry about.

Paul's a big Flyers fan. His family is from Philly and they're original Flyers season ticket holders. Aside from the fact that he has the right to voice his opinion on whatever he pleases, I think he especially has the right to voice an opinion on a team he's been following since childhood. Besides, it's not like he's the only one with that opinion on that signing.

Very fair, and you're right. I won't lie, I was also someone who highly doubted the effectiveness or playing ability of MacDonald, but MAN was I wrong...

Since coming to the Flyers, he has been one of the kind of D we have been looking for. All aspects of his game are very solid and dependable. I've seen a lot of backlash all over the net about this signing, but I think people have no idea how good he actually is. Playing for the lowly Islanders didn't help him with exposure, but's been a breath of fresh air.

Very good. Point per game in his handful of outings. I think he proved to be an upgrade for us overall. No doubt he has a great sense of the game. Could be a great player over the long haul...or so we hope.

Agreed. I have to wonder though if at 5 million per season more scoring will be expected. 4 goals on the season is low for a defensive player especially of his caliber.

Thought the same Paul when I first read Lav was coaching the US. With Poile being on the Advisory Board I am sure they will have time to chat about the position.

The next few weeks will be interesting for certain. Hope they don't drag the coaching hire out for an eternity...although that tends to be Poile's MO

See he didnt actually discuss the signing though. I would be fine with that. If we weighed the pros and cons and came to a conclusion. Instead he made a one sentence comment.

Most people in the Flyers blog along with Bill the blogger agree that Amac is a little overpaid but pretty much all of them would do that deal rather than losing him.

Paul can voice his opinion but so can I if he doesnt take the time to truly analyze a signing.

I'm glad he's working out for you guys. Does this mean you'll stop coveting Weber?

Think he got 8 or 9 pts in 12 games. Team strangely went 9-1-2 while he was here, after pretty much tanking the few games prior.

Poile gives Trotz exactly 2 Good players (Weber and Suter) in 15 years (and fails to keep 1 of them in the fold OR get anything in trade for him) and Trotz gets shown the door after 15 years of trying to make chicken salad out of chicken sh1t?

Joke franchise becomes bigger joke

Are you implying Vladamir Orzagh was not an "Good Player"?

The thing I have been most impressed with is his immediate play after making a pass. He has shown the uncanny ability to make a pass and go to an area that forces the opposition to move towards him effectively leaving the third forward open or creating a shooting lane for the puck carrier. Whether it's as simple as going right to the net or pulling the D away from the crease by moving backwards, it shows good hockey IQ and frankly *bites tongue* reminds me immediately more of a player like Crosby or Martin St. Louis. I don't know if he has that sort of potential but I don't think 60 pts is out of the question for him as early as next season.

I think the trade will be looked at as a steal sooner than later.

God if Weber doesn't win the Norris this year..
Highest scoring player on his team, which (no offense) doesn't have a great offense to win most games, so relies on great defense that he plays to win...

Go Weber!

He won't win as long as he plays for Nashville. I heard that the Canadian sports writers desperately wanted the Norris to go to a Canadian team, so they voted for Karlsson. Weber should have won it that year based on Karlsson's PK abilities, or lack thereof. It was frustrating reading the tweets that there were audible gasps heard when Karlsson was announced.

So in the process of giving the award to a Canadian team they screwed over an actual Canadian in the process.

Joke franchise? Really? I'd like to hear an explanation for this comment.
