have you watched him play this year beyond just against the Flyers?...he is completely the reason Oates is gone...Management is in love with Ovechkin...and the caps will NEVER win a cup with him as their face...

235 goals for, 240 against. If you lower that goals against by 30, Washington is in the playoffs.

Also, I wouldn't think Trotz would accept the position without a significant say in player personnel.

How is it that people don't see this? The guy COULD be a fricken stud, but keep the coach carrousel going.
The guy went a month without a 5v 5 goal for Gods's sake.
So the Cap fans will get a new coach and try to sign a shut down d man or two, but since they are not cheap and I doubt a shut down is available this year in FA.
So here is the prediction....they will go out and overpay for second tier d men with far too many years and expectations that are unrealistic.
But, next year will be a little better, but I'm calling it here, they still will not make the playoffs.
Book it.

What is it now 4 coaches that have tryed to figure him out, I dare think that maybe something else in Washington should change....and for the better.

Whatever, the dude is paid to score goals, scores 50 for the fifth time and yet he sucks. He is already ranked 77 in goals all time, and is a plus on his career. Newsflash, the Caps suck, it isn't just Ovie. Their goaltending was brutal this year, they have almost 2 lines and then a boatload of pluggers. Green is washed up, and their GM is one of the worst in the business. I watched 3/4 of their games, I know Ovie floats too much, and could be a lot better. But to lay the franchise woes completely onto his shoulders is a joke. So is the hate for that matter. If he was a Canadian player he wouldn't get near the hate. But he's Russian, so the auto hate is predetermined. It's bread into us in the west via 50+ years of propaganda. See Sochi for example. Ovie is awesome, get over it. Haters hate, and Ovie ploughs over them to another 50 goal season. #russophobia

Ovi should go all Reggie Dunlop and just be the coach.

As a Cap's fan, please say goodbye to McPhee and the ENTIRE coaching staff. The new regime needs to explore trade options on at least 3 players: Ovechkin, Green, and one of Brouwer or Ward. I like both Brouwer and Ward, but their trade value should be high and the roster spot could be used elsewhere at a discounted cost.

The environment and culture needs to change in DC. These steps would be a start. I also agree with the Flyer's fan in his statement that the Caps will never win a Cup with Ovechkin on the team. That's not to say he couldn't do it elsewhere and that's not saying his trade value is low. On the right team and in the right environment.....
