he will most likely want more than a 2 year deal to let trade speculation go.
I would give him a 3 yr/17mil deal. Little but of a pay raise |

I'd give my left nut to resign Hemsky. Maybe $5.5M per for 4yrs, plus one slightly used left nut (no, not Greening, an actual testicle). |

I think the magic number is $5 million per for Hemsky. I'd like to see him sign for the amount Michalek is making at $4.3 million per. Especially with our money situation. The term, I'd try to go just 2 or 3 years. He isn't the most healthy guy in the world. If we sign Hemsky, expect Spezza to be a Senator a long time. The way it should be.
If his play falls up in the final games, let him walk though. I doubt that will happen. |

given the cash flow problems in Ottawa, that money is better spent on players who can keep the puck out of your net. |

I think he signs somewhere around 4 year/19mil. I'd be scared to let him get more than that with the pay raise coming to Macarthur and Ryan among others. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets signed and they flip Bobby Ryan for a defenseman. I hope they get him relatively cheap, keep our top 6 intact but replacing Michalek with Zbad on the Spezza line. As for bottom six, get rid of greening and let the Lazars, pageaus, grants, stones all fight for ice time. |

This would be far better than the Clarkson contract. Hemsky is close to having more points in 7 games with the Senators than Clarkson does in 49 with the Leafs. |

Agreed... |

Ideally, 3 years in the $5M range.
Realistically? I see him testing the free agent market. |

I'm sure he'd sign 4 year $20M
Does this hamstring the team for signing Ryan, Mac and whoever else is coming up? Not in respect of the cap, but maybe for this internal fudging budget.
I still think if it's a question of signing Ryan or Hemsky, we use that money on Ryan. |

Reuniting a soft, injury prone underachiever with Spezza and Ryan sounds like an excellent idea to me. |

Was Connacher put on waivers because of the Hemsky signing? |

If Hemsky gets that than I will be rendered speechless at the stupidity of NHL GM's |

NHL GM's are stupid and someone will give Hemsky 5+ per yr.. |
